Very niche question but does anyone use a dice app that they would recommend? I’m looking at Sophie’s Dice and Dice by PCalc and while I could just buy both, I’d rather make an educated decision.

I played sorcerer. I was super squishy until I found mana shield and then I was unstoppable. Leveled up fireball and chain lightning and melted everything. I had to restart my character once because I was careless with spending my gold and I forgot that there is no way to farm for gold because enemies don’t respawn after clearing a dungeon lvl.

I was just looking into this! I wanted one for my watch, and Twilight Dice seems perfect (has apps for watch, phone, and iPad). My watch borked when I tried to install it (because it’s been having troubles for a while), so I just ordered a new watch, which has yet to arrive. So I can’t vouch for it in practice, but it seems great.

I kind of want to spend less than a couple hundred dollars, though :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

That does look like a good one, too. Let me know what you think of it when you get the watch up and running. I’m not going to lie, watch integration is completely nonessential for me, but also pretty cool; all else being equal, that could be a deciding factor.

Edit: I went back through and saw that the Dice by PCalc app also has watch integration. It is $2 as opposed to free but it is far more impressive visually, which my kids would much prefer, I’m sure. I may lick it up tomorrow when I go on my iOS spending spree (Thanks, Sid Meier…).

My use case is just that I bought On to Moscow, a solitaire game/book by Worthington games, for airplane play. All you provide is a pen and two dice, and the rest of the game is in the book. So it sounds ideal, except I didn’t want to be rolling 2D6 on a tray table, and I didn’t really want to have a device taking up space on that table, either (and part of the point is taking a break from screens and preserving battery). I thought about bringing a little plastic snack container which I’d line with felt on the sides and opaque top, and just keeping the dice in that and shaking them around, then looking through the bottom to see what I got. But it seemed like a watch die rolling app would be easier.

I was traveling this past week a lot, and somehow started playing I Keep Having This Dream on my iPhone for the first time in years. That game is still great.

All the games in my library and I can’t stop playing Songs of Syx

Doesn’t quite scratch the exact same itch as Dwarf Fortress but it’s close. It never goes on sale so now’s as good a time as any to dive in!

Hexarchy has a week long public play test on steam. It’s a light 4x with a deck building mechanism for getting stuff done. It’s designed to be played in about an hour. It’s clearly taken inspiration from earlier civ games, and also reminds me of polytopia

Am I stupid? Why are the campaign mission in Star Realms so difficult? I’m not even talking about the ā€œhardā€ missions, or trying to get 3 stars…I’m on chapter 2, mission and and failing over and over…

Funny, I have like 15k games played now, and have never really played any of the campaign.

I went back to it after playing the Hero Realms campaign. The big difference is that in Hero Realms you can level up and actually have a better starting deck, so the impossible becomes possible. Star Realms has no such thing.

I suppose I could just be unlucky with draws but the game is a struggle for me.

Right?!? I gave up on them a while ago, they were stupid hard.

You’re not stupid–I’ve tried them a few times and haven’t made very much progress. The campaign missions tweak the regular game rules just enough to make them difficult, from what I remember.

I’m playing just-had-to-buy-a-new-family-SUV so I will not be playing anything new for a long time. Thank goodness I preordered the new Zelda a while ago.

Ooof. Cars are stupid expensive rn too. What’d you end up getting?

Yes, prices are too high, supply is too limited, and interest rates are prohibitive. I had to put more down than I would normally have wanted to just to keep from paying a high interest loan. We got a Kia Telluride and it was to replace a 12 year old Outback that unfortunately required more maintenance that it was worth putting in to it. We drove across country twice a year to visit family and like taking road trip vacations so it was becoming a necessity.

But brining it back to gaming, now I will be focusing more on getting value out of the games I already own rather than continually pursuing something new. I did pick up Tyrants today, though
