I’ll go again if you need another military bruiser in the game…

Actually, I now understand why the option to Resign is available. So no worries if you need to do so, again. :slightly_smiling_face:

We have our four!

EDIT: And for the love of all that’s holy, please don’t ignore your Strength! Note: this comment does not apply to Hardco.

that was only for once, and in one of my very first games, when still testing things and concepts.

Resigning is an important part of the game, and I promise if I find myself in a position where I should, I will!

Explain.

I always though resigning was important for the tabletop game, which can play for 3+ hours. Other than possibly saving face, what a the reason to resign?

The threat of resigning is to discourage the ā€œpile on the weakestā€ effect that can happen. If the weakest player, with no hope to recover stays in the game, it will reward the military players, and punish a player that has a good culture game but only enough military to stave off attack.

The aggressor then has to decide whether to wage war on the weakest, and only get 7 culture if they resign (40 if the stay in), or target someone else that may have less of an upside (maybe 25 culture), but are less likely to resign.

This leads to the next level warmonger strategy though, which has the warmonger declare war on the second last turn, once age 4 has been triggered (or will be triggered before the target’s turn). Since you can’t resign in age 4, all of that sweet culture will be yours!

very much so.
even the game rules say:
ā€œBut it is possible to honorably resign. You admit you lost the game and you let the others compare their strength against each other, rather than compete to see who can harvest more from your weakness.ā€

it’s just that i never again found myself in such a position since i tried and had to find out that a no-military strategy is unsuitable.
hoping to keep it that way.

Hmm … sounds like I’ve played a couple of games recently that I should have resigned from …

Invite me to any of you want anotger

wow, ok I just realized I have a game right now that I should resign from.

I’m also in for another

I accept all invites

I also accept all invites—I need so much practice it’s not even funny. Right now this game sits firmly on my ā€œlove this game but absolutely suck at itā€ list.

I also accept invites. Just let me know here just in case

I’ll accept an invite, but usually only have 1 game going at a time so as not to overload my brain.

Also, I’m terrible.

Multiple games at a time, which in retrospect may be the reason I’m pretty terrible.

Either way, will always accept an invite too.

Ditto. My strategies from multiple games get jumbled, otherwise.

What is this strategy thing of which you speak?
