I got a notification when (presumably) the game ended and I was excited to finally see end-game scores. Our game is listed as open still but it will not load for me. Baby steps?

sorry, but nothing new. i think since the second last patch.

Anyone up for another game of TfM?

So, from the likes & replies, thatā€™s @OhBollox, @js619, @Mirefox and @JMH.75. Marvellous. Game created, including Corporate Era & Prelude.

Itā€™d be nice if Asmodee kicked another expansion out of the door at some point.

They still havenā€™t figured out how to allow everyone to see scores, or show player names; frankly, it is a miracle we have Prelude. I canā€™t imagine they are working all that hard at expansions, though Iā€™d take mini-expansions, like variable milestones/rewards.

Everyone is in, @JMH.75 to start picking cards.

It would also be nice if Asmodee fixed letting you pick cards and then forgetting your choice because itā€™s not your turn.

Well, I had an advance look and I am impressed by the lack of synergy between my corps, prelude cards and projects. Challenge accepted evil billionaire plutocrat laugh

ā€œAdvancedā€ strategy question:

When Iā€™m giving advice to new players, I recommend playing to your corporationā€™s strengths.

However, when you more or less know how to play, do you think it is more advantageous to play off your corporation or to pick prelude cards and actions that bolster your deficiencies? Iā€™m sure the most obvious answer is ā€œit dependsā€ but Iā€™ve always wondered if either of those approaches is better than the other.

It really does depend, but even playing to your corpā€™s strengths can depend. If we take Ecoline as a simple example, Iā€™d rather play cards like Experimental Forest and Ecology Expert over Biofuels and Dome Farming. Extra plant production is welcome but itā€™s also extra plant production early when youā€™re most vulnerable. Early Settlement can be a great one, too. Cards that do stuff in the area of your corpā€™s strength without being one-dimensional. Itā€™s absolutely best that you get some sort of synergy going between your corp, preludes, and starting cards going, whether that synergy is your corpā€™s specialty isnā€™t relevant.

You also need to take into account the deck distribution and player count. The real risky click is playing the likes of Phobolog/Point Luna/Saturn Systems with Acquired Space Agency/Galilean Mining/Orbital Construction Yard, or Helion and Mohole/Mohole Excavation. You can over-specialise in an area that becomes a dead end either due to player actions or the cards you receive afterwards. There are some good general preludes like Society Support and Supply Drop but you then have to think about how efficient they are, which is usually Not Very. You also need to consider your developments in Milestone and Award terms, because theyā€™re too much VP to ignore.

You donā€™t need a rigid plan of this card then this card then this card, but you do need a framework.

We have a discord channel, if anyone ever fancies bullshitting about the game or anything Iā€™ll likely be around.

The game just received a bug fix patch on iOS, so just a reminder to all in our game that youā€™ve probably been logged out and will need to log back in before you receive turn notifications.

I donā€™t know about your games, but the one Iā€™m playing with 3 other friends, we canā€™t get back into it after the patch

I patched and was able to take my turn.

I patched and it fixed the bug I was just about to log in and apologise for (trying to skip my second action was causing the game to hang).

I am not getting the cards I need and have such little focus this game. Iā€™m playing the ā€œcan I afford this card? Might as well play itā€ gameā€¦

Itā€™s a strangely quiet game, not a lot of activity on the planetā€˜s surface.

Iā€˜ve started playing the draft variant against the AI and that seems to solve the wrong cards problem. The downside is that you want to buy almost every card thatā€™s available. Maybe we should play draft next time.
