I’m not sure there’s any difference at all!
Good to know. I think half the reason I haven’t bought it yet is I can’t decide what platform I’d rather play on.
Paradise Killer on sale, well worth it.
But will my kids like it?

Anyone have any thoughts on Let’s Go Pikachu versus Pokémon Sword? My girls have enjoyed the latter but we finished it out. I am pondering getting them Let’s Go if there is a good sale, but I want to make sure it would not seem like too much of a step back compared to Sword as far as gameplay and such. Can you still switch Pokémon in and out of the team without having to go to a PC like the old days? That was a handy feature, would be hard to go back. They loved bouncing between a large crew on a moment’s notice.
The Let’s Go series is definitely a step back. You can switch out Pokémon like you asked, but catching and leveling don’t work the same at all. I think the Let’s Go series is great as a starter game, but I wouldn’t really recommend it after Sword/Shield unless you are just desperate for more Pokémon. Have you looked at the DLC for Sword/Shield?
I might just do the DLC. I hate how expensive it is, and lategame content is typically not that interesting, but I am concerned a backward step might just make it less interesting for my older daughter.
Metroid Dread.
Either this game is old school hard or I really suck at it. You’ll enjoy it if you’re a fan of the series, the genre, or frustrating yourself to the point you’d like to throw your switch across the room cause you can’t beat even the first phase of the first boss fight.
Theoretically.
I’m in the latter section. I also hate the EMMI sections. My favorite part about Metroidvanias in general is the methodical exploration and the EMMIs mess with this so much.
I don’t hate the game. I may even come to love the game because I love the genre. After giving it a little time, though, I put it in my to-play queue rather than bumping it right to the top (I’m about 30 hours in to Tales of Vesperia).
Same. Had a helluva time with the white EMMI too; the method for killing it wasn’t intuitive at all and it took me a bunch of tries.
Also don’t hate it but don’t love it like I thought I would.
I’ve finally come back around to Metroid Dread and am enjoying it more as I get the hang of it. I have to give it props for being an actually challenging Nintendo game. Over the last decade+ Nintendo seems to have dropped most of the challenge from their games or made the challenges optional (like getting all the big coins in a Mario game or something). Metroid Dread actually requires some skill. It won’t happen but I’d love to see a Zelda game return to the more difficult days of Zelda II.
Soooo how is the word on the stately street regarding Triangle Strategy?
It is by about 101% up my alley (SRPG and 2D-HD and seemingly very VERY rich lore and plot-heavy), but since Mons Backloggus is still looming menacingly ahead, I haven’t purchased yet.
Also, I am pondering if I should finish Octopath Traveller first, because if not it may be sidelined forever which might be a shame in itself…
I tried the demo. It was okay, seemed promising, but I don’t want to do another FFTactics-alike unless it improves on FFT.
Also have only tried the demo and quite liked it. Will likely pick it up in the future but Elden Ring on PC is currently consuming most of my free gaming time at the moment.
I picked it up. The early going is very story heavy - there is something like an hour of dialogue between each fight. It does pick up after that though, and the story is pretty good. I’m playing on normal and the battles are interesting - you have to think - but they are perhaps a bit easy. Overall, I’m enjoying it…
Hang on… triangle story was lost story, the one that killed playdek?
Do you mean Unsung Story? Which is now an early access game on steam?
Two different products, my man…
Wait, it finally exists? At least in some form?
That was my initial impression from the demo. Deeper than most SRPGs but still shallow compared to FFT, and not a great ratio of talking to fighting. Worth getting, but not at full price. Maybe $20-$30.
A bit late to the party but yeah…that image sums up Hades PERFECTLY!
