I gambled on building up enough resources to build the Church and a Luxury liner in the closing rounds instead of upgrading goods. Then I shipped a ton of cattle in the Final Action to steal the win by a single point. There were probably about a dozen lead changes between all 3 of us during the game. Whew!
We are in round 15/18 I think!
Comes around to me probably once a day
Seems super close on value at the moment!
We’re only in round 6, but it appears we are thankfully playing a short game.
Yup, think the spread of time zones hasn’t helped but we’re getting there.
Loving your coke production line btw! Impressively effective
Re: Star Realms, are we using the same setup we did last year? (Base Set + Bases And Battleships)
Thanks for asking… I had to go back and check my notes on this one. (We played Star Realms in January for the 2021 Decathlon which seems like a looooong time ago!)
Back then, my research lead me to the conclusion that the common consensus was that Bases & Battleships evens out some imbalances in the base set, so that was my recommendation.
As always, it will be up to each table group to decide on expansions, but let’s go with the same recommendation as last year - Base Set + Bases & Battleships.
Hop on over to the Decathlon Practice Arena if you want to get in a game while we wait for these Le Havre stragglers to bring their ships into port!
I might suggest that we add Frontiers this year. It is a great base set, and really changes the pace of the game up. Can be played with Core and B/B also if we wanted or just B/B. But considering that we do want change in the Decathlon, this provides both a change with familiarity.
If we really wanted to change things up, both Missions and Command Decks change a lot also. (they don’t go together though, one or the other)
Not that we need to change things up, just some suggestions.
Thanks for the suggestions! I’m fine with whatever at each table (I’m personally fond of Gambits )
Most people should have Bases & Battleships from last year, so I’m happy to recommend Core + B/B + Frontiers as the configuration of choice this year.
I’m going to guess that everyone here already has it, but Through the Ages is currently on sale on iOS. Since it’s a decathlon game, might as well grab it now if you don’t have it.
Probably about 2 moves each from finishing our table. In the final round

Any chance you can be finished Le Havre by April 1? (No foolin’)
And we’re done!
I though I could double ship at the end, but needed to take my token off shipping to use again.
Never mind :). Great game all!
I believe it can be done! Round 10/12. The end is in sight……
Great game and congrats on the victory, Baelnor. I’d forgotten just how good this game is
Thanks—congrats on the win!
Kudos! Hope you had fun!
Unfortunately, that screenshot is super low res for me - was the final order:
1st @feederofgoats
2nd @geigerm
3rd @Notsew12345
Sorry - I had upload problems. Yes that was the final order.
Welcome back, Decathletes!
After a luxurious (or, in some cases, bankruptcy inducing) tour around The Harbour, I hope everyone is having a nice version of whatever spring looks like in your part of the world.
But the weather doesn’t matter in space and we are off to game #3 the perennial favourite - Star Realms!
Link to the App Store
Since it is a 2 player game, each player at the “tables” of 3 will play against each of the two other players. Since Star Realms is heavily luck-dependent, we will play best of 3 of each match up. In other words, everyone gets to play at least 4 games of this fun and fast-paced (even for async) game!
The recommended setup for this year is the Core Set plus the “Bases” and “Fleets” expansions, but each table of 3 is free to agree on their own set of expansions, provided all games at the table are played with the same setup.
The winner of each separate game will please post a screenshot of the final outcome, including scores.
The positions at each table will be determined by the total number of games won, with ties broken using the total score differentials.

Looks like I misread @kennfusion’s post - I was looking at the “Fleets” expansion from the initial set of IAP but Ken was referencing the “Frontiers” set. I’ll have to check that one out myself, so again the bottom line is that each table group agree (probably best in a private SP mail thread ) on what cards they want to play with.
