Stately Play Decathlon 2022!

Welcome back, Decathletes!

After a luxurious (or, in some cases, bankruptcy inducing) tour around The Harbour, I hope everyone is having a nice version of whatever spring looks like in your part of the world.

But the weather doesn’t matter in space and we are off to game #3 the perennial favourite - Star Realms!
Link to the App Store

Since it is a 2 player game, each player at the “tables” of 3 will play against each of the two other players. Since Star Realms is heavily luck-dependent, we will play best of 3 of each match up. In other words, everyone gets to play at least 4 games of this fun and fast-paced (even for async) game!

The recommended setup for this year is the Core Set plus the “Bases” and “Fleets” expansions, but each table of 3 is free to agree on their own set of expansions, provided all games at the table are played with the same setup.

The winner of each separate game will please post a screenshot of the final outcome, including scores.

The positions at each table will be determined by the total number of games won, with ties broken using the total score differentials.

Happy gaming!

Looks like I misread @kennfusion’s post - I was looking at the “Fleets” expansion from the initial set of IAP but Ken was referencing the “Frontiers” set. I’ll have to check that one out myself, so again the bottom line is that each table group agree (probably best in a private SP mail thread  ) on what cards they want to play with.

I think I did it right

First one done. Got some nice early red synergy and completely thinned my deck of everything. After that it was a few bases and solid cards - all killer no filler.

(I think every one of my cards at the end was visible)

Good game! @JaneHatke

@Baelnor was that just one game? We are playing a best of 3 in each matchup.

Thanks, @kennfusion - you are correct, each player will play best of 3 against each of the other two players at their table.

Sorry if that wasn’t clear before!

feederofgoats…what’s your tag? I can’t find the other message I sent to you or if you responded.

You legend - I totally missed that bit!

Sorry for the delay @HostileApostle - I’m Goatfeeder on Star Realms

Just a reminder that our next game will be Gaia Project - I strongly encourage folks to head over to the Decathlon Practice Arena thread and get a practice game in while you can.

The app does a pretty good job of guiding you through what you can do, but there’s a lot to the game so knowing why you can/should do something takes some time…

I also recommend learning on an iPad If possible. The screen real estate makes it easier to understand. It’s perfectly playable on a phone but it helps on the small screen if you’re already familiar with the game.
