btw i have my dislikes too (not daring to mention them as they are much liked games on SP) for which i close my eyes and “just go through”.
the 5-3-1 scheme looks like a good solution and compromise for all needs and wishes.
Not yet, but then I’ve gone into both decathlons already owning all the games we played, I believe. I’ve certainly bought games just to play in other tournaments and ended up really liking them—Raiders of the North Sea is the most recent example.
I only rage deleted one app, Twilight Struggle.
This decathlon was good for me, as I discovered two games I had not played before, RftG and Through the Ages. Both have become games that I play somewhat regularly against random people.

playing TS in the Decathlon again after a long time i rediscovered my interest in the game, further fired up by discussing it in the thread, and then playing a “tutorial game” with Hardco in which he shared some interesting insights (thx again!) with me in the ingame chat.
a patient and competent advisor he is for games he really loves.
i hold the game in higher esteem now than before the Decathlon.
btw @Hardco, you had sent me a link to an interesting TS strategy book.
recently my ipad deleted my complete pdf collection in iBook, mostly boardgame rulebooks i had downloaded over years.
(no idea how this could happen, i’m still very angry.)

I don’t remember doing this, but I would assume the book was Twilight Strategy (though the forum software is reminding me I linked this last October). I’m probably saying the same thing as last time, but the strategy is pretty old, and modern TS puts more of an emphasis on every last VP than board control, but it is very helpful for beginners.
We should start thinking about a 2021 Decathlon.
