Man I feel so out of touch with the whole hate on for iOS 11. At this point, there isn’t anything I’m missing from iOS 10 that the developer didn’t give a big F*ck You to their fan bases by blaming Apple for all their woes with the upgrade. They had more than 2 years to get it done. I get that there are issues due to Swift changes (I’ve helped 5 friends with their apps getting them upgraded first from Swift 2->3 and then from 3->4) but come on. Apple didn’t announce it 2 months before iOS 11, and they extended the life of 32 bit apps through 3 major OS changes. The requirement for 64bit code bundled in the app was in iOS 8.

I’m with @athros. Haven’t really weighed in on this yet, but I’m fully iOS 11 on everything, and there isn’t a game I miss. Anything that old I probably wasn’t playing anymore anyway… the update just cleared time and space for the new stuff.

When I watched Bradley’s video, I was immediately struck by how jarring the lack of animation when playing cards is. I don’t really get how they could botch this so badly. This is a game that should have been a sure-fire hit, as much as any board game on iOS could be anyway, and yet they don’t seem to have cared enough to do it properly?

@halfvoid Deep Sky Derelicts looks so good. Wish I could play it on switch.

I agree. I was very apprehensive about the apps and games I’d lose by the update, but everything I cared about has been updated. Even Eclipse! Not that I play it.

I do wish updates wouldn’t be mandatory though (through constant nagging until update). I don’t generally see new features that I think are worth the trouble of learning where things have been moved to or features that have been removed.

I’m pretty indifferent about games lost going to ios 11, but forcing the update onto devices that it doesn’t run well on is pretty frustrating. My 6+ has been slow to respond in general, with some apps (Through the Ages in particular) being practically unusable since updating to ios 11.

What, exactly, it your issue with TTA? I’ve got a 6 and haven’t had any issues with ios11 or apps like TTA.

Surprising to hear that - my 6 was pretty unusable after 11… “forced” me to get the X.

It would be slow to the point where everything would be happening in slow motion. You’d get to appreciate the smoke clouds of buildings, because it would take seconds to complete a build action. Forced reset of the phone would typically improve it a bit, but never to the level it was at before ios 11.

They got me too @js619! But now I’m slightly more reluctant to give the 6+ to my father-in-law…

Gonna use my 6 to replace my eldest daughter’s circa 2013 iPod touch, which won’t update past iOS 9.something… It’ll do what she needs. I just have to figure out how to make sure it won’t make / receive calls.

The phone was atrociously slow - I’d start typing a text message and be three sentences in before it started appearing on screen.

I can report that my iPhone 6s is running as good on 11 as it was on iOS 10. Did not regret the update so far.

You do have to turn off automatic updates in iOS, as it is set to automatically download and install all updates as the default.

Settings > iTunes & App Stores > Updates

My iPhone 6 has been noticeably slower on iOS 11, even with about 17GB of free space. I’d welcome any suggestions other than a factory reset.

this DOES NOT PREVENT iOS 11 permanently auto-invading my device.

i’m glad for everyone who enjoys iOS 11, but i don’t want to lose 30+ much appreciated games right now, and i simply don’t want to be constantly pestered and invaded by apple.

just THAT is my point, not the quality of iOS 11.

why do they do this? it’s my device, my decision and should be respected.

Because of the constant barrage of security vulnerabilities and people bitching about how old iOS versions “are not supported”. So they took the other extreme with forcing updates on people.

Honestly, I’d rather have that than the opposite of “no updates” that exists in Android.

Why I dumped Android - I got tired of waiting for the carrier to push the latest update.

but when i deactivate automatic downloads, including updates, that must be respected.
to what purpose exists this option in settings when obviously totally useless??

and forcing things on people should be no option, no matter what.
at least they could do it once, but then accept a “no, thanks”.
or the option to deactivate automatic downloads should be functioning.

Yep, or deciding whether you needed to buy a new phone to get the update.

GRID™ Autosport by Feral Interactive Ltd has launched - not sure if anyone is interested? 9.99 and it says IAP, although TA is reporting those are just high res graphics and don’t actually cost anything. 6 GB total though!

Edit - Not sure why the link didn’t embed…

What an odd choice of game for them to release. I mean, they nailed it with Rome: Total war so they have my curiosity here, and I know the dirt and grid games from console…hmm…

I’m interested as I quite like racing games, but I don’t know if I have the space.

hmmm, 75% off on Steam, I should just pick it up there and play it with a controller. I have not played a racing game in some time.
