Once I got to collection level 6 I had enough ongoing and 1 cost cards to make a really good deck themed around placing as many cheap cards as possible, then boosting them all with another higher cost card.
Then once I got Odin at level 14 I built another one based on reapplying all my cards On Reveal effects.
Both of those feel pretty fun to play, and the more matches I play the more I appreciate the random selection of 3 locations in each match.
It’s simplistic like the card game War but with special abilities, but there’s not another CCG I can think of that plays like this (or with anywhere near the speed of a match) which is very refreshing.
I think the marvel snap ai has issues. I can’t tell whether it’s tuned to throw the game at low levels, or if it’s just half baked. The games fun and the graphics and effects are nice, so I’ll keep plugging away at it. I’m only level 20, iron 13, so it’s entirely possible they think I still need my hand held
And bounced on it after 2 days and finally reaching the premium Season pass stage of the game, and that there were base characters only available when you purchase it.
FYI, just saw this on Playdek’s Facebook page re: Labyrinth:
Quick update on the Labyrinth release:
We are sorry for the delay, but Labyrinth is currently waiting on review from Apple. If it doesn’t clear by tomorrow, we will release on Google and Steam and follow with Apple when it is finished.
Is this the type of thing that Apple might not approve because of terrorist themes? Haven’t there been problems in the past with other legit games that struggled for approval?
I think I’m going to do what I typically do: get hyped, download immediately, put off the tutorial for a few days, start the tutorial and get overwhelmed, get dragged into a tourney, realize I better learn the game because it’s my turn…
I feel like this one needs people to put more work in rather than just jumping into a game and trying to figure it out. I’ll accept any invites though (even though I’m still not sure whether I even like the game, despite buying the app for a second time)!
I took one look at the game, thought it was Twilight Struggle Redux, almost had a stroke and hit the back button on that. Twilight Struggle is the only game I have purchased that I literally rage deleted from my ipad. I am not even going to approach a game that just looking at it gives me flashbacks.
The only thing similar to TS is the card driven mechanic and the choice of using cards for ops or events; there’s less memorization of cards required since it’s a single deck. The sides are asymmetric with different win conditions and actions - I like it a ton better than TS
That funny because one of the reasons I bought it is that it looks a little like Twilight Struggle and I want to learn that game but it is iPad-only, which is not how I play games.
