I am absolutely keen as I’m a huge fan of Diablo. I’ve got the preorder ready to go but will hold off on passing judgment until I’ve played a bit. Generally when it comes to mobile I hope for the best but expect the worst. We will see.
Same, pre-order ready to go. Blizzard has continually managed to surprise me over the years. I suck at Shooters, I loved Overwatch. I suck at MOBAs, I loved HotS. I am more than willing to give this a go.
not sure about this, but could it be possible to play online co-op sessions?
i know that it will be cross-platform mobile/PC.
I really enjoy it. Very similar to SR. For some reason the theme is far more interesting than SR. There is co-op play in the app which is fun.
It reminds me a lot of a fantasy themed SR where they took the concept of SR’s Commanders to 11 by making them persistent entities you can customize as you level them up via meta-game progression (even though, technically, I think Commanders were a result of SR borrowing back the concepts introduced here in HR).
Another fun concept introduced in HR is the 2 player co-op battles vs. an automaton AI big baddy.
The Co-Op battles were really my fav part of it.
One of the things that is interesting about Hero Realms is that while SR stays 95% true to the card game, they are letting the digital version of HR evolve beyond the card game.
There have already been balance decisions in the beta that change cards from the physical version in the digital version. And that has a lot to do with the changes in base deck and special skills you get when leveling your heroes, some cards need to be balanced around that.
They are thinking of HR to be more of a ever-changing game.
I gravitated to HR over SR at the table primarily because HR had the champions before SR. As for the vanilla decks, they are very similar.
I forgot to mention the leveling up aspect. Not sure this is in SR.
As you play and gain experience, you “level up” your starting deck and gain additional abilities. I like this progress part of the game.
Wait…Hero Realms releases on Steam in June. I can’t find it on IOS. Where is it available digitally?
It is only in the Test Pilot app right now, in the final days of beta.
It releases on iOS same time… I have to remember to apply my backer code
Looks like Diablo Immortal just released for me on Google Play (UK).
Same in the US. It’s taking forever to download and time is a bit of a premium today but I hope to at least give it a little go later.
It downloaded for me this morning already, but have not had a chance to fire it up yet, in about an hour. Will probably try it on both iOS and PC today.
Fired up Diablo Immortal on the iPad this morning; some first impressions.
HUGE download. Wants 6.6 gb on install and then another 9gb, iirc.
Plays smoothly, no graphics hiccups, character creation was also smooth with the standard Diablo classes available and facial customization, etc.
Little tutorial area where they walk you through the on screen controls; despite fighting two purple named mobs I didn’t have trouble yet. Rescued someone and made it to the first town; have yet to run into f2p shenanigans.
tl;dr, Diablo on your phone / ipad, haven’t found f2p yet.
Got about 30 minutes in on Diablo Immortal on my phone this morning and enjoyed it. Got through the introductory quest and opened the whole world map. Obviously too early for a ludicrous f2p difficulty spike.
I also appreciated this:
Well played, random name generator.
Anybody tried it on a phone? I know we are mostly tablet jockeys here, but was curious how it was on a phone before I go recommending it
I’ve played on my iPhone 12 Pro Max with no issues.
I’m waiting for a proper review before I spend any time with Diablo Immortal. I read a first impression article on Ars which said that his first 10 hrs with the game was a great ARPG and his progress wasn’t gated by any ftp shenanigans. But the author mentioned there was all the trappings of awful ftp microtransactions such as a multiple currencies, recurring $10 subscription for an expanded inventory and a daily login rewards that disappear if you don’t claim them immediately, etc. I don’t feel like wasting my time with a game that might gate my progress with either endless grinding or multiple lootbox microtransactions. I would have preferred a premium priced port of any diablo game from Aspyr or Feral than this.
