Some might be interested in Fury Unleashed releasing today on iOS
Edit: Hmm, while it has a very highly polished look, I’ve played this game on switch and it just feels so different on mobile. The controls are just a little janky. They’ve made it auto fire in the direction that you pull the Rhs joystick to (until the enemy is dead). And even though I’m playing on hard mode, it’s feeling too easy, which makes me wonder if they toned it down for mobile. Hmm, will need to give this one some more time I think.
Edit 2:With a bit more time now I’ve found I can turn off auto aim in the settings, targeting manually from the right joy which feels a lot closer to the Switch experience.
Since I now had ample chance to sample Nintendos utterly pathetic back-catalog options via the Nintendo Online Subscription on my Switch and since I am currently reorganizing my mancave™ I have taken the option to resurrect my Wii U and use the cupboard real estate which formerly my XBOX360 had occupied (I simply had to take her behind the barn and end her since she is so utterly worthless).
I still have some games I am interested in the Virtual Console so I will get them before they are gone…for game preservation reasons, yup…totally (sounds way more snazzy than FOMO).
I plan on getting some old goodies from yesteryear since I truly was a fan of the Virtual Console offerings.
Still pretty miffed on the regional differences in availability between NTSC and PAL territories (which is utter crap for us Europeans, what is this? The 80s?
Any not-so-obvious recommendations what to get from you fine folks here?
I’ve read elsewhere (IGN, probably) that Blizzard has said that the release date is merely a placeholder, though, so don’t put too much stock into what the App Store says. Still, it’s nice to see it yet one more step closer to release.
In other old news; humble bundle has the “ultimate” Europa Universalis IV bundle on offering for ~20 Units of galactic credits.
Since it gives about 90% (?) of the humongous DLC Catalogue nearly 10 years in the making of the godfather of all life-service games it is a pretty good deal. Getting all DLC individually would cost over 400€ after all.
I haven’t hit one of those in a while. Just the usual annoyances of not being able to see the final score, having to log in to your turn at the end even if you don’t have enough plants for a greenery, etc.
Here’s what the player posted. I don’t know the online implementation well enough to know if there was a work-around. It was the first play of game game:
I’m trying to play Ecology Experts which permits you to play a card from hand, ignoring the global requirements, and it’s not letting me play anything. It says “You do not have any actions left”.
Maybe it is just me but I feel like we are in a bit of a release drought here with board and strategy games. Are there any big releases imminent that anyone knows about?
There’s Dominion which is currently in beta for steam, iOS and android.
But that’s been accessible through other ways, though still, will be real good to have it in app form. Developing by Temple Gate Games (race/roll for the Galaxy) so you know it will be good.
I think I saw Everdell was in development. No idea about release date.
But you’re right, it seems slow right now. Good old Asmodee (do I hear grumbles?) was the one that was churning them out previously so maybe that made it feel like a “normal” run of half decent releases every few months.
A couple weeks ago I mentioned how Zen Koi came out with a premium version. Interestingly, Rovio recently released Rovio Classics: Angry Birds on the App Store. This is a .99 download and gets you the entire original game - interestingly with no IAP. Are we starting to come full circle? I’m not even a great fan of Angry Birds but I bought this one just to support the premium practice. I hope this f2p-turned-premium thing becomes a trend.
