That’s funny, they also just released the original game on Apple Arcade (I have it as part of the Apple One+ or whatever they call the subscription) and I put it on my kids’ devices. They’re having a lot of fun with it

Holy shit, really? My wife has been replaying Angry Birds and had to do the terrible f2p shit…this is a godsend!

She’ll gladly start over to just pay 99 cents and have the whole game.

Thank you!

Total War: Medieval II just came out on iOS today. Feral is pretty awesome with their ports.

Great Western Trail is in beta on Board Game Arena.

I wasn’t the biggest fan of my first play, but that’s huge! Thanks for the notice!

Also it’s easy peasy to setup private asynchronous tournaments on there should anyone want to throw down. I’ve got a premium membership so should be able to set one up for any game they have available (that isn’t in alpha or beta).

Matches can’t take longer than 30 days so probably not ideal for a super chunky game though assuming people take about a turn a day or so.

This is very neat. I might actually finally join BGA after looking at it for months.

Highly recommended for the $21 or $25 or whatever it is a year. Keeps me in my Tash-Kalar fix…

£22.8 a year here in the UK and that’s a steal for the volume of games I play on there. If I’m not on a streak with Hero or Star Realms I usually have 10-20 1 turn a day asynch games going on there at a time.

Why not both?

I’m just getting off my A Feast For Odin craze, but there was a point where I had twelve games concurrently on BGA.

Really enjoying Feast For Odin, although I’ll fully admit I have no idea how to build an effective engine lol

Enjoying it as well but I definitely lose every single game in last place. No idea how the other players are managing to nearly fill up two extra islands when I can’t even fill up the first one.

Same. I just enjoy the ride, and every so often I win a game.

Definitely Emigration actions and long houses if not islands seem key.

Does anyone have any experience with the Game of Thrones board game app? iOS experience would be especially welcome.

The app just updated to include an expansion and is also currently half off.

From what I remember, the game didn’t even have asynchronous when it launched, which is why I never picked it up. It seems to have been added after launch but the reviews are not promising, saying the the game breaks constantly. I also saw reference to Asmodee’s famous end-game scoring feature where nobody can actually see the scores.

I’m shocked that Asmidee would release expansions without fixing their app (/sarcasm)

Thought? Asynchronous intrigues me.

I have this on steam and it’s awful. It’s so beautiful visually, but it’s terrible in terms of play. For the reasons you mentioned and also because in solo play (which is how I’ve mostly tried to play it), the scenarios often seem to force ugly stalemates where no one can gain ground.

The entire thing is frustrating is numerous ways. I want to like it so much, but it’s just irritating.

I just saw that Dire Wolf made the game. Any chance they’ve cleaned it up a bit since you last played?

And do you think the underlying game is any good and is the app a good way to learn?

I’m going on day 5 of being bedridden with a fever so I’m getting stir crazy and looking to make ill-informed and irresponsible purchases.

Game of thrones isn’t a complicated game to learn. It’s the interactions between players that give it complexity. I doubt you’d get the same experience vs ai, unless you’re really into single player games

The underlying game is great, with the right group of people. It’s not a casual game for non-gamers. But it’s also not complicated. As @Snotty128 wrote, the game is interaction-heavy, a little like Diplomacy but with more variables and mechanics (in the form of cards, specific to each house).

I like the game a lot, which is why I was interested in the app. I have not played it for many months at this point, so it’s certainly possible that it’s been cleaned up.

This will sound like a crazy thing to offer, but I will happily PM you my steam sign-in and pw and you can play anything you want in there for as long as you’re sick. I have zero time for games ATM and for at least a week or two that will not change. Most of the games, I have never even played (sound familiar?). Just LMK if you’d like to try that : )

Unbelievably kind of you but I won’t be on my PC at all. But seriously, that’s super nice!

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1939940/Roll_Player/ 12 days.

If it’s like what I’ve been playing of it so far in the testing phase on iPad, Solo mode only for single player. Remote/Hotseat only for multiplayer initially with proper multiplayer to come in the future.

UI’s got a nice bit of polish to it and it’s definitely enjoyable in this state, but I’ve mostly only played Roll Player solo.
