I’ve never played it, so I don’t know. But I would think at least a couple of hours, at least on the table. Not sure how much the app aspect will reduce play-time.

Game of Thrones the board game with 6 players at the table is about a three-hour game, maybe 2.5 or less if people really know what they’re doing and certain houses get neutered early on. The game has a sort of known “flaw” whereby one key house can be sidelined by another within a few turns. Then the sidelined house plays all of their nasty cards throughout the game on the aggressive house, essentially sidelining them. But if those 2 houses become allies at the start of the game, then you’ve got a problem. It’s a good game but definitely time-consuming and would not be fun without the Diplomacy aspects, IMO.

Trying to download the beta right now…and there it is. So I’m up for trying it out if we get enough other folks : )

I have also downloaded AGoT, would like to play a game (total newbie)

Let us all know what the experience is like.

I’ve played through the tutorial (which was solid) and a couple of single player “challenges” (which I lost, because, Ohh, right, now I remember, I always used to suck at this game) that were good for getting my head around certain aspects (some things happen differently than I remember from the board game).

It is polished and I only encountered one “bug” (after playing for about 40 mins, the game slowed suddenly to a crawl and then I had to quit out and restart it, but then things were fine, and it had saved my place). It is a battery hog, and my olde ipad started to get hot enough to fry bacon on it by the time I was done. Crispy Lannister bacon…

Of course, in single player, there is no opportunity for Diplomacy interactions, so I don’t know what the UI is like in that regard, which seems kind of key.

I am up for a game, whether with 6 or with less. I’m biffpow there as well. I’d strongly suggest playing through the full tutorial before starting–there’s a fair amount to absorb. I still don’t get how a couple things work the way they do, so I may be checking the rules on them.

Well, it’s going to finally be here soon:

Sweet!

First, a question: Has anyone played Similo? It looks like it might be a fun family quarantine app (also a tabletop game) but I know little about it.

Second, a related observation: looking at Similo, it seems that their other game Potion Explosion has reverted back to them from Asmodee. We saw similar moves over the last year with Nomad. I wonder what is going on.

Steamworld: Quest just came out on iOS. I don’t know that there was any indication that this was coming.

Twilight Struggle was also removed from the list of games that Asmodee is publishing.

I really wonder what’s going on at Asmodee.

I’m guessing here, but Asmodee may be divesting themselves of games that they don’t want to support any longer. They weigh the cost of ongoing support vs. the potential for new buyers, and make decisions from there. It’s 100% bottom-line at Asmodee, digital and physical.

Looks like civ 6 on iOS might be doing their free daily dlc offer over the Christmas period. I just got a notification about getting the Poland dlc (which I already have). If this offer is like last year it’s absolutely worth checking out and downloading every day

i got the notification and instantly hurried into the game, but it wasn’t for free (any more?).

but i found this  instead. isn’t it about time now to start a CIV6 MULTIPLAYER game? ok, it would take long (“forever”) but so what? the way is the goal.
and maybe it won’t last much longer than the Decathlon :man_shrugging:

let’s do it!

@athros and I had a steady 2p going, along with a 4p. It worked well; the only thing we had to do was use discord for turn notifications.

Yeah, the lack of notifications is tough. Doubly annoying is that the app is capable of notifications, as it sends them to remind of sales. It seems like something they could manage for the game but I doubt they ever will.

Yep. The 4p’s were super slow, but the 2p’s moved at a good clip. I had several going at the same time  I usually aimed for a turn a day, with the Online turn speed on. Usual 2p was 3ish months to play through.

I’m very interested in more civ 6 multiplayer. We found combat between players a bit tricky because the defending player didn’t get a replay, so we tended to play more peacefully.

I’m down for some builder style games, or certainly some warmongering if you’re happy with the lack of defensive replay.

Count me in, regardless of player count!

Same! I don’t have any going right now and I have all expansions
