I don’t know Concordia, but I look forward to being notified that it’s my turn on everyone’s turn…

As for Labyrinth, while Playdek has done another great job with the implementation, for me it just doesn’t scratch the same itch as Twilight Struggle. Almost everything in Labyrinth hinges on a die roll, and a bad string of rolls can feel like a long Quagmire in TS, but far more frequently. I expect the better player still usually wins, but it feels like the game can reach a point where your best option is roll for a 5 or 6, and if you fail, nothing happens (especially as the US). Maybe the game is already lost at that point, but nothing happening on your turn is pretty unsatisfying…

Pre-ordered. Can’t wait.

Handelabra does it again! They’ve added new content to a game already published. This is the second major expansion to One Deck Dungeon. Abyssal Depths.

I bounced hard off of One Deck Dungeon. It seems like just rolling dice and sticking them in random spots. What am I missing?

That’s pretty much what it is. With a little RPG-lite progression. I see it as a sibling of sorts to Elder Sign, with less narrative and more RPG.

Just like Mirefox said. I like the challenge of manipulating the dice with the powers. There is some challenge with that.

Once you level up your heroes, the game gets much easier (two heroes especially). The poison in the second expansion added potential difficulty, and this extra Fiend mechanic looks like it will really add some difficulty.

And I like winning more times than not.

Xoom 2 came out on time in NZ. Once installed there’s a mandatory/download as you play download of a further 6gb. Just a word of warning if you’re data limited like me and you’ve snuck into work early to …err… borrow some wifi before everyone else turns up

Did we lose the ability to edit our posts? Xoom is supposed to say XCOM

My understanding is we have about an hour to edit our posts or we have to live with our typos forever…

Do we know if there is a reduced number of maps on XCOM2 on mobile? That was my biggest complaint of the XCOM1 ios port. I think it only had about a third of the maps compared to the other versions. I understood there were file size limitations for a mobile device but I think those restrictions are a little less onerous both on app store rules side as well as modern mobile devices having more storage in general.

I’m really happy with the performance of xcom 2 port on my iPad Pro 10.5. There’s minimal frame rate drops and the ai takes its turn quickly.

I have some very very minor niggles that I thought I’d mention. The strategic map and base screen seem…low res? Muddy? I’m not sure what it is. They work perfectly fine but the images aren’t crisp.

I’ll also occasionally fat finger double tap when I move my units. Probably my fault, irritating none the less.

The extensive, default, subtitles are very welcome, but clearly optimised for iPhone. Covering literally half the screen at times is probably essential when you’re on a phone, but overkill when you’re on an iPad.

All that said, I couldn’t be happier with the game itself, and most importantly to us…the sheer quality of the port. Feral interactive has delivered the goods once again.

Sounds like you’re describing iOS Civ VI’s graphics. I wonder what, if anything, prevents each title from offering an optional hi-res texture pack. The muddy graphics in Civ VI really irk me.

There’s an option for a move button in the settings. I have that enabled.

There is a new game from the developers of Card Crawl called Gnomitaire. I know nothing about it except that I at first thought it was a blatant rip-off of Card Crawl until I looked a bit deeper and saw it was by the same guy.

Any word on this?

Not today. Either it still needs some work OR it was pushed back to avoid overlapping with the PS5 launch.

It looks as though Eclipse is in new hands and is back on the App Store. The app is now being published by Brettspielwelt, who is the company behind most of the roll & writes on the store. Their apps can be a bit rough and their login system is broken junk, but I find their apps addicting. I’m not really expecting much from them in terms of quality of life updates to eclipse.

i have played in a 4P with randoms some days ago.
no option to invite friends.
only rigid 24h timer.
only auto-battles.
when a player’s timer runs out an A.I. bot takes command but
when all other human opponents have dropped out the game disappears.

it’s exactly the same as before.

the devs have announced to bring on the Second Dawn edition in 2021. maybe we get new quality of life comfort functions then?

Weren’t there all sorts of game breaking bugs too, which is why we all stopped playing?

Hopefully with the rise of eclipse 2nd edition (which is excellent by the way), then we can hope for a new lease of life online

My review of Fury of Dracula from Nomad Games is up.

Very good app as usual. Not really my kind of game, though. Especially playing solo.

Obviously no async multiplayer (Nomad doesn’t seem to do that and I’m not sure how well it would work for this game anyway).
