I’m CST, so 7 hours different, which probably leaves you as a better option to set it up. If you pick an early-mid PM hour and give me good warning here I can log in. @feederofgoats are you able to join us with this cockamamie scheme?

Yes - lets give it a go!

Alright! @JMH.75 pick a time and I will actually set an alarm to log in.

(How silly is this)

For those waiting to hear about performance:

As we showed, setup is a pain because you can’t invite players unless they are online.

There don’t seem to be turn replays, though there is a turn log that admittedly does a good job of highlighting the actions.

I did get a notification banner, but no sounds or badges. Better than nothing, and it makes the game playable.

Oh, I forgot to post that I did a review of the app version of Roll for the Galaxy.

I really like this, and glad to be in a couple of games with some of you!

I just realized you can access this through the App Store too.

How did the test play of Root go? It’s another game I’d really like to play but have no chance of doing so in the cardboard, so looking forward to the port.

Much like Terraforming Mars, in fact. Oh well.

It’s already going very well. @robthomasson won the first game as the Vagabond. Now we’re into our 2nd game.

I know it is nothing at all like it, but I have a couple friends who desperately want Axis & Allies on iOS. I think I can appease them with a different, and likely better, war-style game that isn’t 100% dudes on a map; can Root do what I’m looking for? I’m not trying to compare it to A&A, just explain what my board game-ignorant friends thing gaming is…

Yes and no. It is definitely a war game in cute clothing, but the asymmetric powers do require a bit of thought on how to manage. How the Cats win is totally different from how the Vagabond, Woodland Alliance, or the Eyrie win.

Rob won because we didn’t really do anything to inhibit what he was doing as the Vagabond. He just was going around, doing his thing, accumulating points. Battle is required, but for different reasons depending on who you’re fighting.

It will take a few plays as each one before you really have a good idea of not only how to win, but how to stop them from winning if you’re playing a different faction.

Does that help at all?

no geese faction in Roots is definitely a failure.
are there wargeese in Wingspan?

It does. I’m probably going to buy it as soon as it is out on iOS and test it out, but I’m hoping it satisfies that war game itch my buddies have. There are plenty of deck builders or worker placement games on iOS, but we want some more confrontational stuff.

Root has been compared to the COIN series. It has a coat of “cuteness” painted on, but it is very much a confrontational game where you win by doing the best job of making your faction’s engine work right.

WotC had a browser version of Axis & Allies in development at Beamdog a few years ago, but I’m not sure if it was ever released or how well it works in the iOS browser.

Did I miss the release of Slay the Spire on IOS? Or has it only just dropped? Saw it in the App Store today…

I think it was the begining of summer it came onto iOS
