great find, @Mirefox!
it really looks like a new announcement for a “complete overhaul” of Neuroshima Hex. would make my year 2020.
but…sounds too good to be believed.
and a great (overwhelming?) chance that Portal will screw the async part of it anyways
It looks to me like the site owner just rounds up whatever iOS boardgames news he sees. And that NH thing sounds like it was taken from the same meaningless tweets/posts over the last 2-3 years. "Soon"™
There’s a new game out from Kenny Sun, developer of Twinfold, and I like what I’ve played so far:
Also, I think this announcement got lost a bit in the news of that other PC game coming to mobile this month, but Crying Suns will be out on iOS on June 25. Never bought the full version on PC but enjoyed the prologue. I’ll probably grab this to play on my iPad (I’d embed the tweet announcing the port, but it’s not working at the moment.)
Viticulture from Digidiced will be released next week. While I wasn’t impressed with the game the couple times I played the physical version, I’ll probably give it another shot with the digital version…
Err no…the Ship to Ship combat is QUITE different.
It copies some things from FTL (the approaching Danger from pursuers mechanic) but all the fiddly onboard stuff is simplified to weapons / active abilities and strike craft management on the battlefield.
So no moving around Officers in the ship to repair stuff/extinguish fires open airlock and all the useless stuff which made me hate FTL…
They love this game over at The Dice Tower. I’ve always wanted to try it and almost blind bought it once. I’m glad for the chance to play digitally. If I like it, I imagine I’ll grab the physical game since I love Stonemeier’s production.
I get that about the game mechanic differences between the games. I Wasn’t at all just comparing crying suns to FTL directly. What I mean is in terms of the overall theme of an expansion that adds to the game on many facets like what advanced edition did for FTL base game, but never mind, I could’ve communicated that better.
It looks like Viticulture is $8.99 on iOS. I will download for sure as I’ve always wanted to play, but the curmudgeon in me notices that in the app store screen shots, the screen looks cropped to the 2-years-and-older iOS aspect ratio, which is a bit of a bummer.
