@Hardco @js619

How about … wait for @whovian223 to get to his computer and get friended up and then try a four-player game? Unlike Race, Roll is billed as best with 3 or 4 …

Ah … and quite possibly … whoops!

I noticed that I could add an email address to my online account in Roll … and when I did that I got a new friend code … TV6BWCBB … and my friend list was re-populated with some familiar people.

But @Hardco was gone … so if you can’t see me in your friends list you might have to add me again. @js619 and @whovian223 are in my new friends list but I don’t know if you can still see me in Roll. Do I now have an alternate universe friends list? The image by each name is for Shards. If you can’t see me maybe try adding your email address to your online account.

I would apologise but instead I will deem this to have arisen as we are working with a beta release … :sunglasses:

You folks can call me ZHANYVNN.

Would you look at that… I did my email too and my Shards list popped up also. New friend code 3kinf7ww… all caps if that matters. I do see you in Roll though.

eta: I see you twice, once with the Shards icon and once with the Roll icon. Also, it has notifications!

I have no clue of what I am doing…

Also, I don’t think you have to use friends codes again: if you just use the Shards email and authorize it, your friends list will be there.
Just add people that weren’t already your friends, or you will end with duplicates.

App seems usual TempleGates…ie ultra fast and super polished.

I can only see the first 5 people I’m my friends list … and I know there are more (the app confirms it saying already a friend when I try to add somebody not in the first 5).

There was a similar problem in Shards … I will have to report it …

When I look at my friends list, there’s a multicolored mess on the right that’s supposed to be a button. Tap it, and I get to the next 5 people on the list, and so on …

I’d welcome some games—you can see my friend code in the screen shot if you’re not already my friend from Race—but I’ve never played this game and have no idea what I’m doing. I don’t even remember signing up for the beta!

I’m up for a match too. Friend code is ADZ7P911

Was anyone aware there is a digital version of Imperial Settlers Roll & Write on iOS?! I’ll link it tomorrow when I’m able.

I saw that today!

Not sure about it in general but it could be cool.

I also have a bunch of my friends but only 5 showing up. @js619 is on there but @robthomasson isn’t.

@Pitta is too!

I’m up for a game now.

Edit: Actually I have some kind of coloured crap where the arrow would normally be. When I click on it, it’s like an arrow and I get to page 2 (and probably other pages).

Everybody is on there!

Edit 2: Was going to start a 5-player game with Rob, Hardco, js619 and Pitta, but it wouldn’t let me add Rob to the game (even though he’s on my list).

If anybody else can start a game, that would be great!

Downloaded it earlier and played a few times today … it’s good. Won’t replace my High Rise addiction but I’m sure I’ll play this a ton, too.

Also addicted to High Rise even though I’m not entirely clear on the rules… sometimes diagonals merge and I didn’t think that was possible?

I think you’re probably seeing diagonals merge when you have two blocks that are diagonally adjacent to one another and you place a third block that’s adjacent to both. If all 3 blocks are the same height, or if the new block has height 2 and the others are height 1, the 3 stacks will merge toward the center. The same thing can happen with larger stacks later in the game. The “extra rules” part of the tutorial explains this stuff, IIRC.

The center merge and diagonal merge rules are both the best and worst things about the game. You need them for solid runs, but screwing them up is the easiest way to ruin a promising situation.

Roll For The Galaxy Beta

Thanks for the tip to see the complete friends list. When creating a game I can only add the players shown at the top of my list … available directly when tapping on an empty player slot. If I tap Friends List I do see the full list but cannot add anybody from it. All players there are shown with the Shards symbol.

@js619 and @whovian223 are in my “direct list” … so game created with them.

Not to derail the Roll chatter, but just found out this exists -

Played and enjoyed the board game but not the roll & write - anyone have any experience with the cardboard or the app?

Can’t edit my post for some reason, but wanted to add that I can’t tell if the IS app just released? It seems there was a version released 10 months ago judging by the app store history, but maybe it was just a beta? Can’t imagine it flew under the radar for that long, and any reviews I can find are from yesterday too.

One review I found says it’s single player for now with multiplayer planned for the future.

Portal Games announced it yesterday or the day before like it was new, so I don’t know about the app history.

This is the same Portal Games that let Neuroshima Hex multiplayer fester and die and said they might add it to Tides of Time, which they never did. I would take multiplayer promises with a grain of salt.

That said, I don’t mind single player roll and writes if I can treat them as high score chasers to play against my wife.

when i hear ‘Portal Games’ my stomach revolts.
their promises must be taken with a salt mine.

they once said on FB:

get the facts on NHex:
online multiplayer was working well before, and the Portal Games promise is 3 years old now.
