Pandemic was updated today. QoL stuff only. Same with Ticket to Ride. Is Amsodee actually fixing up their apps?!?
Well Iāve seen comments that this pandemic update isnāt so great and suggestions to hold off updating. Apparently any expansions bought previously are lost , and UI not so good. Just what Iāve read in a few places.
Agricola seems to have been removed from the App Store, and replaced with Agricola Revised Edition. Iāll be sad to lose the 4 decks with the original version if it is being phased out.
Edit: As an Agricola completionist, I picked it up anyway. It contains the cards from the base revised game (96 in total). Registering for online play is tricky, as they try to get you to link your Playdek and Asmodee accounts, but since they are already linked I couldnāt proceed. Somehow through cancelling I got myself to a regular log in screen and got online.
2nd edit: And while they have changed some of the graphics, they have still not updated it to support current screen sizesā¦
I wonder whatās revised about it?
Iāll leave the sadness and outrage about rereleasing and recharging for a digital product to other commentators, as Iām sure theyāll put it better than me
Sounds like Asmodee being Asmodee to meā¦
Well, itās the revised version of the game, which has a single rebalanced deck of Occs and Minor Improvements, and it only supports 4 players.
Didnāt this happen with Talisman as well, when Asmodee acquired it?
So fundamentally itās a new deck?
In my confusion with the state of iOS, I forgot to mention that this is tied to the Steam release of the gameā¦
Some new cards, but a lot of old cards with less of the worse old cards.
For someone that hasnāt fully grasped this game, to be clear, are the I, K, and G decks included in the new version, or not required because superceded by new version or what?
The old game I remember had I K and G expansion decks, so wondering how theyāre handled in this new version?
The new version does not have the E, I, K or G decks, as they arenāt technically compatible with the revised Agricola (the spaces on the board have different names). There are several new expansion decks for the revised edition that hopefully will be released as an IAP in the future.
But at the moment, this is the base revised edition, 48 occupations, 48 minors, and they have even stripped out the draft and 10-3 variants. Hopefully the last part will be added back in soon.
There is a new XCOM game coming to PCs next week.
Oh wow, really? That sounds fun!
Yeh just saw a trailer. Called Chimera Squad. Not an XCOM 3 as such apparently. Still, it looks quite impressive. New mechanics look deep.
I put it on my wishlist so Iāll get notified.
Will have to check out reviews, but definitely buy it in the first week if youāre going to.
50% off until May 1
I know it a shoot in the dark and I donāt want to necro bump old threads butā¦I recently started playing the digital version of LOTR:The Card game (sadly only on PC).
Not only the game is amazing as I anticipatedā¦but actually itās even way better than my wildest dreams.
Soā¦is anyone else playing it? I really would like to try the co op if anyone fancy to try it.
A really awesome game with a great narrative perfectly mixed with great mechanics, that screams to be on iPad (not holding my breath since FFG interactive digital studio has been disbanded).
Itās on sale on the Switch, so I just picked it up. Tutorialās great!
Spirit Island is now on Steam Early Access, developed by Handelabra Games.
The price point is quite steep. The first week 15% discounted price is just over $21 ($24 CDN)
Considering I thought the board game itself was decent but not totally great for me, thatās a bit beyond my āimpulse buyā range.
If I had enjoyed the game more (A lot of people do, with it being #13 ranked on BGG), or if it had been a bit cheaper (even $15 maybe), I would have jumped on it.
Too many games Iāve bought and then not really played much to add another to the list at that price.
I did buy and play this and also thought it was amazing. Not sure how far through I got. But mechanics are brilliant
