Since we are posting our successes/failures…
Difficult is not kind to me.
Here is what I simply do not understand:
I’ve got my arcanist completely maxed, which means I’ve got the extra campfire. I finally just beat difficult using a chain build. Out of curiosity, I tried the next difficulty using the same build and didn’t make it past the first zone. And there is still an even higher difficulty!
I know runs can depend on luck, but it seems to me that there are difficulties in this game that are literally impossible. What is the point of that?
Ok, so I gave the game another chance on difficult mode.
And another chance, and another. Turns out this games pretty hard to put down
I appreciate how certain story moments and opportunities change based on your character and build. For example, I’ve “found shelter” from the storm dozens of times to cull a shield from my deck. For the first time ever I am playing as a hunter with a storm axe and on the storm opportunity I had the option to raise my axe to the sky. I didn’t do it because I needed to get rid of that shield but it is a good example of the little touches added to this game that show the developer cares…
Agreed. I forget which character it is, but when you get to the fallen tree you can lift it out of the way and find a rare card, instead of going around and getting ambushed.
I finally won with a Poison deck! Rogue with the Poison special weapon power (which also cleansed all my Poison each turn), along with enchantments that let me do 3 Poison with every melee hit, do damage equal to poison with every hit, and the card that added 3 damage (plus 3 per upgrade) each time The enemy played a card rather than just 1 point.
I used the Cutlass as my Basic Attack too
Some great talents there!!!
There’s even more that didn’t fit in the pic.
Emporium Discount
Fire Resistance
Trovan’s Blessing
Battle Prowess
Devotion
Fortuitous
Once I got Avatar of Blight (gain one green energy when you inflict Poison) and Poison Coating imbued, it wasn’t much of a contest
Normal, of course. I can’t win often on Normal (only 4-5 wins right now out of almost 100 plays), so there’s no way I’m going to try Difficult.
It’s a roguelike, you’re not supposed to win
Had a fun souls-heavy run … only needed them to revive me once, but the harvester and spirit barrier talents made this deck a beast. Soulbolt is incredibly good for a common card.
I need to try Souls next.
Learned the hard way that if you have a super-buffed Greatsword (critical hit if you used Divine energy), don’t make it free to play.
haha, did the same thing once. See ya, crits…
I also messed that up…
I think I swapped the cost with something that was 1 red and I couldn’t grit anymore.
I had a great run with the greatsword and the apothesis talent - probably my best run on difficult. Obviously I died to the final boss, but it was fun until then.
Dawncaster updated last night to add new levels to each character - 4 to be exact. I had my arcanist and hunter maxed but now it seems I need to get back to work…
The patch notes also said that character unlocks are faster now.
Anyone try Gilded Staff with Fleeting Thoughts? I just started a new arcanist run, thinking to use the staff to trigger the thoughts, and it didn’t do anything.
Did you trigger the yellow energy requirement?
Yup.
