Just One More Run…The Roguelike Thread

I’ll try it on my next run and report back. The text makes it sound like it should trigger but I don’t know for sure. Maybe call it a bug?

Edit, I can confirm that it doesn’t trigger.

Thank you making me feel, well, maybe not SANE exactly, but not insane because of this.

Another update released a few hours ago. I can’t confirm if this was fixed (if needed) but it is possible; I’ll be checking later.

After a content update, Dawncaster seems to reliably update every couple of days for a couple of weeks. This developer certainly stays on top of things.

That is a really rough starting weapon. 2 energy is always difficult to manage and the bonus on the card doesn’t seems to have much synergy with anything.

This was my most recent run and I finally beat difficult with the Knight!

This deck was - a weird stack. The Soulblade weapon was cool. So I started going for focus to trigger it. I think added a heap of Blessed Strike and went with a theme of getting buff stacks.

Somewhere on the way I picked up a couple of things that enchanted my basics, like Righteous Blades / Master of Arms - and then a pair of Spiritual Warfare and Duel Mastery to put a clock on it.

Breezed through the new spores zone, and rolled into the last boss on full health.

Question though, did they nerf the Enchanter? It seems like his price goes up. First chant was 100g and second was 150g? Is that a thing?

Wait, what? He gets more expensive? Oh no, that’s going to kill me.

Yup, with both new patches, I excitedly tapped the enchanter the 2nd time only to find he was out of my price range.

I also understand why they’ve changed the way auras are shown, but I’ve been caught out by it several times

yep. 100, then 150 then 200, etc.

It’s too bad, because I even rarely got 2 enchantments imbued. There’s no way I’m doing that now!

I wonder if it’s because getting enchantments imbued is such a power spike. I’m literally building my build around what enchantments I’m going to get imbued, rather than relying on rng to put them in my hand

Yeah, that seems like a good change, precisely because I’m so sad about it.

Yes. My builds were almost 100% designed around imbuing enchantments, especially when I became familiar with a class. Perhaps it became overly-powerful.

Motherfucker. They “fixed” the problem of Gilded Staff not triggering Fleeting Thoughts by … changing the wording on Fleeting Thoughts so it happens at the beginning of the round, not the turn.

My enchanter is starting at 150…

That I haven’t seen, but I’ve only played a couple of games since the update.

My last run my enchanter started at 100 gold, so there is something there that is making it change. I don’t k ow if it is story related or it it has something to to with any of the talents I’ve gotten. I’ll try and pay more attention next time.

So, 13 days later I finally get my first difficult win (after 11 other attempts)

I got lucky that the boss randomly cleared the 5 stacks of vulnerable on him, and not the 448 stacks of brittle! Dead on the 2nd turn

Won two more times (yes, on Normal, I’m not that good still) yesterday with two very different decks.

First won as a Seeker with the Short Bow. Wow, that sucker is strong. Only does 1 damage but automatically summons a Steel Arrow (3 points of damage).

Combine that with the talent that upgrades all conjured cards by your level, plus the enchantment that adds +1 damage to your ranged actions for each ranged action you have played, plus an action/item (can’t remember and I don’t have my iPad handy) that lets you conjure a free copy of whatever ranged actions you’ve played this turn.

I was doing massive damage.

Then last night I played an Arcanist with Burning and Freezing, but supplemented that with a talent that whenever you bury a Magic Action, conjure a free copy of that action into your hand. A deck full of Magic Actions and cards that bury other cards made that pretty sweet. Also found the Magic Action that does points of damage based on how many Magic Actions you’ve played that turn.

So a question: how do you win with a Corrupted deck? I tried that last night and while I did get some cards that were better when I had corruptions in my deck, the corruptions themselves kept stifling me.

I have to admit that I am surprised that you are all still playing this game. This was like 7 games ago for me

I’m with you, there. I can usually see how most builds are at least supposed to work on paper, but corruptions don’t make sense to me.

After finally getting the fifth win in difficult, I am staring at a pretty solid run of outs with the rogue.

Will keep trying! I find their survivability to be the hardest thing.
