Thanks @Codington, @kennfusion. Well, that was a fun training game. What I learnt from that was be Tharsis and make an enormous pile of money. Letās see how transferable those skills are.
LOL
In seriousness, note that half of the difference between 1st and 2nd comes from Awards and Milestones - you got the jump on me on at least one Milestone and I needed another turn or two to try to take at least one Award away from you.
And clearly you and I put some distance between ourselves and @kennfusion thanks to just about covering the planet with cities and greenery. I should have disrupted your massive network in the northern hemisphere by putting a city in the middle, but again I missed the chance.
As for me, I consciously tried to take as few cards as possible this time, and clearly went too far that way since I ended up with hardly any Victory Points.
What doesnāt show up here is that you and I both let the game stretch out a bit when all that was left was to raise the temperature, instead putting some more cities and greenery down.
So, definitely nothing Mars-shattering ( ) but also definitely confirms all of the basic rules of thumb for Terraforming Mars strategy.
sorry to spill some water into your wine, Chris, but 32 VP ahead is a massive landslide victory for @SpiceTheCat. he ruled in every category.
normally TfM games are close affairs.
I canāt remember what the alternative was. I think in my simple untutored mind there was some synergy between Tharsis and the prelude cards. Anyway, time to see if it was a fluke and/or to receive an object lesson in TFM strategyā¦
In the end, yes, it was a lopsided outcome and Iām certainly not taking anything away from @SpiceTheCat - merely pointing out that it could have been only a 2VP difference with only slightly better timing on my part (+15/-15 swing on the Awards and Milestones.)
As my grandfather used to say though, if your mother had worn a top hat, sheād have been your fatherā¦
It will be interesting to see what the results are in the 3 player tables in the Decathlon.
I really donāt know how to play TM. I was hoping a practice game would help, but the lack of information in the game is frustrating. I can see the cards that other players have played, but when I try to blow them up to see what is written on them, it says they are hidden. Thanks, not helpful if I donāt know what the card already does. And the log button doesnāt seem to be working.
Am I doing something wrong?
Does it need an update? Played cards displaying okay and log working here.
Iāve tried this too, and in my other games, and youāre right, it seems to be this specific card. I get the āhiddenā message on that card in our game, but I can see other red cards (ie get the explanation when I tap on them).
I think the tap target for the log button is in a strange place - try tapping towards the pointy end on the left, that works for me.
event cards canāt be seen.
but as you can see them in the log, itās a weird design decision to not show them in the āplayed cardsā tab as well
and yes, the log button functions, but indeed a bit on the left side.
@KYakerDude, just keep trying and you"ll find the spot.
@jason1002, our game will end soon, and youāll be the only one who can see the final standings.
can you please take a screenshot and post it here? thanks!
What is your TFM play count up to? (Roughly)
Do you track your stats at the site below by chance?
Iām purple . Good game ā I had not played it online before
Iām not sure but itās over a hundred games by now, most of them physical since I bought it years ago. Iāve not played it much for about the past year, so Iām out of practice, but Iāve used the card list at https://ssimeonoff.github.io/cards-list and the https://old.reddit.com/r/terraformingmarsgame sub is really solid for info too. Iāve never formally tracked stats, but I do tend to take photos of my cards and the board after each game.
I saved the screenshot above, but can someone remind me of which color matched which player?
