What are you playing?

Leona was the first champion I “got.” Use daybreak to gain board advantage — I can wrap my head around that.

I’m not even sure how to challenge another player. But I’m “TheDukester” in all my online games, if you ever want to test a deck or whatever.

I’ll add you once I install on my newish phone.

Shocking no one, I did not resist temptation and have now started Three Houses. Maybe this is just an early game thing, but so far there are more close-ups of boobs than there are battles. I guess there’s a degree of similarity between being a teenager and looking at the world through a Twitter crop, but the warnings about the game having a strong and problematic hot for teacher vibe were helpful in setting my expectations.

To be expected frankly…the series was “saved” (?) from being abandoned forever by adding more boobs and shipping mechanics and became the super-IP Nintendo has now on its hands…

:expressionless:

Quite frankly it’s a miracle I haven’t bought Three Houses yet.

Three Houses is the best video gaming experience I’ve had in years. It kind of made most other games I’ve tried this year feel uninteresting after a short time because they weren’t as ambitious.

Looking for a good tower defence game. Anyone have recommendations?

My faves TD’s on iOS would be:

Dungeon Warfare (1 or 2)
Rymdkapsel (a little different)
Infinitode
Radiant defense
Mindustry (A lot like factorio)

I’ve got but am yet to try Balloons 6, which seems to get a good rep everywhere.

I’ve always thought the Kingdom Rush series to be the best on iOS. I’m not a huge fan of the genre but these really hooked me. They hooked my wife, too, for some bizarre and unknown reason.

According to Appsliced, a bunch of the Kingdom Rush games just went on sale. They are stupidly split between phone and tablet versions, but that’s my only real complaint.

I downloaded Tainted Grail (haven’t tried it yet), Don’t Starve (having a blast with it, but it may outstay its welcome soon so thankfully it was pretty cheap)

They also had the Fallout: New Vegas bundle available on Steam and since I just bought a controller to use with my computer, I decided to do another runthrough of it after finishing Tomb Raider.

Maybe one day I’ll actually buy something “new”!

I liked Don’t Starve, but it was the first or the survival genre that I really tried. I think I have found some that I like much better now, like Subnautica.

Ok, screw it!

The plan was to gift my PS4 pro away to family members and play with my massive errect glistening… backlog of PS4 games on a new shiney PS5…in sexy 60fps and complete restored sanity since the PS5 supposedly DOESN’T sound like attempting lift-off to establish humankind’s first colony on Mars.

I am about 80% trough AC:Origins and why should I start AC:Od (and later AC:V), W3, RDR2, Y7, ME:SoW, DE:MD, GTA5 and Ghost of Tsushima and lots of other looooong games on PS4 when I could do it on a PS5 instead?

Well “Nope!” said the universe…see you in Q2 2021…maybe!
Scalping is the new shit now, didn’t you know?

Ok I had enough…I held back on the Nintendo Switch for years (despite the tradition to go all in on a Fire Emblem release on Nintendo Hardware) but now I caved in. I would have bought it today if not for the possibility of BlackFriday/Cyber Monday Shenanigans in the next couple of days…I can wait another week. Fits the tradition to gift myself a shiney new toy every 3-4 years on or around christmas.

That is…if Amazon (UPS, Hermes, DPD, etc.) cracks down hard on the parcel thefts!
Seems like the other bane (beside the scum of the earth called scalpers) of enjoyment “in these uncertain times™” is a massive increase of parcel thefts in the wake of PS5-launch days…

This is the first Sony and/or Nintendo console that I didn’t preorder and pick up on launch day. I don’t really feel like I’m missing out but I am still itching for the PS5. My biggest issue is that the HDMI from my AVR to my TV is over a decade old but is run through multiple walls. Switching it out for a newer, faster HDMI to take full advantage of the PS5 will be a chore that I’m not sure I feel like taking the time for.

Best Buy had a $299 Switch package deal that has already sold out. Scalpers, I’m sure, but if you see a Switch at retail during the season, you may want to just grab it, as I think it’s going to be ugly with those.

And I am shocked, shocked, that you have not already played Three Houses. Backlog be damned, it is the best game you have not played, sir.

I’ve still not got Three Houses.

I did finally buy the Hitman 2 season pass, because it was 80% off, so that’s four more levels to pootle around in doing my murderous Mr Snrub impressions.

I am (a bit?) weird. I am a super hardcore early adopter on Apple hardware (and super late on everything else) WHEN I am in need of apple stuff, …still using my iPhone 6s (which is considered ancient nowadays) and iPad Pro 10,5. Also, I try to limit my big-time splurges to once a year…and I am embarrassing consistent about it…

Timeline of shame:

  • Nov 2003: PS2 (Release of the original Disgaea and 3 years after initial PS2 launch)
  • Dez 2009: PS3 slim (3 years after the first release of original PS3 and the recent release of the “slim” model)
  • Jan 2010: HDTV
  • Nov 2010: Wii (3 years after initial release)
  • Nov 2013: PS Vita (2 years after the initial release)
  • Sep+Nov 2014: iPhone 6s +iPad Air 2nd Gen. (my iPhone 4S finally died so I needed cough both)
  • Nov 2015: Wii U (3 years after initial release)
  • Nov 2016: PS4 Pro (3 years after initial release and the recent release of the “pro” model)
  • Okt 2017: iPad Pro 10,5
  • Nov 2018: 4K TV
  • Nov 2019: Nothing (unemployment)
  • Nov 2020: (planned) Nintendo Switch 3 years after the initial release

The craving for the PS5 is the odd duck out there. It distorts the usual pattern since it is backwards compatible for a change as well as many (planned) improved features for said PS4 games, as well as they didn’t include a Saturn Rocket Engine for a change. If they didn’t do that stuff I would have waited at least one or two years until the release of Horizon: Forbidden West…

Switch (2019 version) is around 315€ now. Missed the 280€ Version last week with Fortnite (I don’t like that game and colouring, so no biggie)
If I get a discounted one for Black Friday it’s ok, if not I am prepared to spend the 315€. I hope that there won’t be a second Switch drought by millions of panic buyers because they cannot place a PS5 under the Christmas tree…

Confession time:
Due to backloggus indominus I am severely behind on my two main franchises; Fire Emblem and Disgaea. I am into way too many games and 90% of them are in the “long-as-heck” category…the last time I was up to date with my FE gaming was after FE: Awakening released…

As someone up to date with the FE games, I can tell you that Echoes is certainly worth playing, but you should skip it and get to 3Houses first. There’s more stuff to do, the graphics are better. etc, but the main thing is that the plot routes are really good and some of the battles are rather epic. It’s a major step forward for FE and (I think) the genre.

I finally got around to buying/learning/playing Aeon’s End in app form. Lest this sound like criticism, let me say that it is a good board game and an excellently-made app. Handelabra brought all of their polish yet again.

That said, I’m not sure I get the hype, not just in app form but in the board game community in general. The game is fun. There are some interesting tweaks to the deck building formula that in a way give you a sense of playing with time - spells are prepped one turn and cast later, the enemies have abilities that count down to a future attack, and - this is the big “twist” - your deck isn’t shuffled so the way you discard your cards is the way you draw them in the future. But it is yet another cooperative deck builder against an enemy that ramps up its attack as the game goes on. Even though some mechanics aren’t exactly the same, I couldn’t help feeling that this game is very similar to Xenoshyft. It is also not far enough removed from the Legendary system to make it feel utterly unique.

So the app is excellent and the game is fun. It is a welcome addition to my iPad and there are enough enemy/mage/card combinations that the game should stay fresh for a while. It isn’t a gaming phenomenon, though, and I would by no means consider it an essential board game, especially with others that it shares a genre with.

Xenoshyft… now that’s a game that bounces on and off my devices.

So much fun, and just utterly ruthless. Might have to reinstall!
