I kinda want to play it again myself. Wish they would drop it on the Switch or something. And yeah @Mirefox that’s the one.
Has anyone tried the On Tour app? The fact that it is a roll & write with multiplayer (at least the update history says multiplayer was added) is intriguing to me.
I tried it very briefly and it didn’t hook me, but I’m not a huge roll and write fan. The app certainly seemed well made.
Carrion released today and holy human excrement is this game fun!
I am usually not for either action/puzzlers and/or horror games but this game is so much fun!
Beautiful sprite graphics (but OF COURSE!) eery and sinister minimalist OST and the terrified screams of humans when I tear into them is so…
Ok maybe I have to check in with my failing sanity but if you ever wanted to be the grotesque biomutant mass/ monster chasing the humans for a change, this is your game!
Release your inner Hentai-Tentacle-Mons…ok I’ll see myself out…oh I got another one! UNLEASH THE KRAKEN! muharrrharrharrharr
Want to get it on Switch!
I found GEMP. It’s all too easy to give in to my old obsession once more.
Anyone played Bad North? Worth it?
I have not but I recall some people talking about it, here. I don’t know to which version you are referring but the iOS version is currently on sale for $3.99 US.
The Switch version is currently on sale too!
I enjoyed Bad North a bit on both of those platforms, although I got more play out of the mobile version than the Switch one. The controls lend themselves really well to touchscreens. I don’t think it’s worth the “Switch tax” but would recommend it on iOS.
I played BN on iOS and found it to be a greatly polished game, just thoroughly boring for my interests. It got many great reviews though so maybe I’m not the best to compare notes with.
I found that it’s a very basic RTS tower defense game. The upgrades are very limited and the gameplay loop got old for me.
There are TD games that I do like on iOS such as infinitode and dungeon warfare so it’s not that I don’t like TD’s. I also like rymdkapsel which has a close comparison by being a rts type TD. But still, I saw the limitation of depth and gameplay loop real quick in Bad North.
Check out some YouTube gameplay to see if it will grip you I’d suggest. The game is straight forward. Really nothing’s hidden from interpretation so you should be able to gauge your interests from YT gameplay.
I know I mentioned it last month, but I am still pretty caught up with Gemp, the online digitization of the old Decipher Star Wars CCG. It’s not perfect and the leagues they choose are sometimes wonky, but that game is just so crazy deep. And it is nice to actually understand it now, unlike when I was 12 and Force drains were not really understandable. Partial to Jabba’s Palace myself, getting all those weird aliens in the mix. Plus it is admittedly the only format where I have an overall winning record, since a lot of these guys have been playing this game without a break for two and a half decades.
I have been playing Godhood - PC game that was made by the same people as renowned explorers.
I really love their stuff and enjoying exploring what it has to offer at the moment. Similar sort of ramp up with characters etc, however the combat has been turned instead of TBT to auto-battle style - which speeds up the game immensely. Still heaps of depth and tactics.
Your people age and die, so it’s more about your culture and religion you are trying to build over a long period rather than just a couple of main characters.
Funny, I have seriously considered Godhood and put it on my wishlist for a sale.
It showed up as a recommendation in the Steam store the other day, and I looked at it and realized that it was the same developers as Renowned Explorers, I realized there was a 2nd expansion for RE, so I need to probably pick that back up again.
I have actually been splitting my time between a deck-builder/StS/DQ clone called Monster Slayers, that I had not played in a couple years, and also playing a bunch of Destiny 2 right now.
I still have all of my SWCCG cards but I got our of actually playing before they even stopped making the game, so I would be starting at square one. The game is really deep, but I think after a certain point, that became a barrier for me, as I couldn’t keep up with all the counter cards and such.
Now if someone would digitize the Decipher Star Trek TNG CCG in the same way, I’d be all over that. I stuck with that long after they stopped making it.
I dropped out around Cloud City myself back in the day.
I agree. I hate playing in the open formats, too many objective and effect cards muddying the waters. Plus, there are a bunch of virtual cards made for more recent properties like the sequels, and they are stupid OP. But there are leagues with a more limited focus, like that just allow cards from the Premiere and New Hope. That is what keeps me coming back. Plus, the sealed leagues, that work like tournament play where you unwrap some boosters and make decks from what you get.
Shame I did not know you were into the Star Trek one. Found about a half dozen boxes of unopened boosters at Ollie’s a couple years ago for $6.50 apiece. Sold them on eBay for about $15 apiece (sadly, they are worth a fraction of what these SW ones are, where a box of unopened boosters would have its worth listed in the hundreds).
It doesn’t do rules-enforcement, right? It’s more of an area for fans to meet and play, using virtual cards?
Sorry, not familiar with it at all.
I’m playing through another campaign in the Pathfinder Adventure Card Game app to try out some of the characters that I haven’t used much. The game is such a great game and is let down slightly by the app which, while functional, has some issues. It was never monitized properly, which more or less killed it, and it is now abandoned with some of the side quests left unfinished. There is also an annoyance where they changed the loot system so now my collection has some cards with 10 or so copies without any way for me to sell them, which throws off the balance. Again, though, the underlying game is great.
I mean, the program seems to enforce the rules. It handles the card functions in such a way that making an illegal play or whatever would not be possible.
Did the unthinkable and bought Wasteland 3 on release day without reading a single blurb or review. Only a half dozen hours in and having lots of fun so far. Very similar to WL2, so if you loved/hated it you’ll probably feel the same here.
