I’ve gotten 3 to max level, one hardcore, and I can’t even remember the twitching you are talking about, so it clearly never bothered me.
Star Realms seems to get a lot of love,so I’m responding to this comment, though I open to any suggestions:
Are there any board/card game apps that have an extensive multiplayer suite that amounts to more than just accumulating wins/losses? I’m looking for tournaments, leagues, dailies, etc.
I don’t want a collectible game or anything where grinding or spending more money can potentially give you a tangible advantage.
I’ve been playing Path of Exile, having great fun with a summoner build. I’m about to finish Act 6, so not close to endgame. I’m a slow ARPG/Diablo player by nature and clearing more than I should, I’m level 56 in a level 50 zone.
Enjoying it enough that I took advantage of the cash shop sale on stash tabs, I’ve got way more items than I have yet learned how to use. PoE is complicated, I’ve not worried about figuring everything out before I get to the endgame Atlas of Worlds, figure what I don’t pick up by the end of Act 10 I’ll research. Plus, I figure this league/season is for learning, anyway, so if I mess something up I’ll not stress about it. (For example, I’ve been spending Silver Coins on unlocking Prophecies and completing them, but I suspect that’s not what I should be doing.)
I’ve unlocked the Coral, Stately, and Undercity Hideouts. I’m a fan of the personalized Hideout system.
I’ve picked up Animal Crossing: New Horizons on the Switch due to others I know playing it, and figuring I should get onboard before the Easter event, I love a good Easter holiday game event.
Still enjoying the summoner Necromancer build in Path of Exile, as well as the cute, chill, relaxing, happy, game that is Animal Crossing: New Horizons. (Now is a good time for a chill, relaxing, happy game for me. )
I’m considering doing a “time shift” on my Switch with Animal Crossing, I enjoy firing it up before bed to do some daily relaxing tinkering, but it turns out that I miss the stuff that is out during daylight hours. Shifting time on the Switch would solve that issue, I gather that folks who play Animal Crossing at the same time each day do that.
In PoE, I have a question that I’ve not yet found an answer to, but expect it should be obvious to seasoned players. Knowing others here are also enjoying the current Delirium league, and folks like @Hardco have extensive experience, thought I’d post it up here. The visual cue is so obvious that I feel a bit embarrassed that I don’t recognize what it signifies.
PoE is pretty complicated, I’m finding it very deep. I’m slowly learning the systems as I go along, this looks like another educational opportunity for me as I progress towards endgame.
On my Necromancer, I’ve got a pulsing black ring that looks like some kind of aura or something. The visual cue is very noticeable, and likely significant, but I need some text to explain what to me what the visual cue signifies. On my buff bar, all I see are the three Spectres that I have out, I don’t see a buff or debuff. Is this an aura, and is there a way to display it like buffs & debuffs are displayed in the UI? I don’t know if it’s from my gear, my gems, my minions (FWIW, I still see it in town when my minions are absent), my passive skill tree selections, some active skill that is ready to fire off or what.
I had thought to start removing things to see if I could identify it by process of elimination, but figured since it’s so visually significant that I’d ask first what it is, and if there is a way to set the UI to give some text to it, like we do when hovering over the buff bar icons.
What buffs do you have at this point? Does Feeding Frenzy trigger one the buff bar? If you have Mistress of Sacrifice, it could be an Offering skill on yourself. I’ve never played a Necromancer, so I’m not familiar with the visual cues…
Thank you for your thoughts, @Hardco! I don’t yet have Mistress of Sacrifice, off the Necromancer skills, just the “Minion Damage and Life” and “Mindless Aggression”.
When in combat, here’s my buff bar with the Feeding Frenzy buff:
Here’s my buff bar in my Hideout, which is how it looks when in the screenshot above:
I’m kind of wondering if my last interaction with the NPC “Sin”, and what I chose from the Pantheon options, caused what I’m seeing around my character? Alas, I don’t recall what my choices are, I didn’t give it a whole lot of thought since I’m still leveling and I’m overpowered for where I’m at (currently level 65 doing level 57 content). I think I’ve got “Soul of the Brine King” and “Soul of Abberath”. https://pathofexile.gamepedia.com/The_Pantheon
I was hoping maybe there was something in the UI, that I’ve overlooked, to show some text for all graphical character effects. I’ll not worry about it, it was so visually significant that I thought I should go the extra mile to learn what it signifies.
Okay, I was not being truthful, rather than forget about it, I did decide to do the process of elimination … it looks like it’s from the belt, perhaps due to “Nearby Enemies Are Intimidated”?
One of the reasons I asked first, rather than do the process of elimination, is that I was looking for a way to enable the UI to show these things, do folks know if that’s possible? Is that an aura that I’ve got, possibly an “intimidation aura”?
This game is complex! I’m making great strides in finally learning it, but I’ve still got a long way to go!
I’ve probably got around 2500 hours logged in PoE, and there’s still tons I don’t know… One of the most common requests is for a combat log, as some of the one-shot hardcore deaths can be frustrating. But GGG has never given in, so you just have to get used to not knowing everything!
It’s funny, I have also been playing the necro, same build as you, but it bores me for some reason.
@Hardco what is a easy to learn, starter mele that has good AOE and is tanky?
Actually, I was just reading to stay away from mele in first char, as it is gear dependant, and stick to casters, as they are more about gem level than gear.
I completely understand, it can be a bit slow and hands off … thankfully, I enjoy summoners, which are a good fit as I get older and my “actions per minute” (APM) slow down!
In Diablo 2, I loved the Necromancer, in Diablo 3 it’s the Crusader that I most enjoy. I did enjoy the summoner in Wolcen, but my inclination is that the PoE summoner options are likely my favorite out of all of them, but I have not yet made it to PoE endgame … if Blizzard would give us a wide-screen, HD, remaster of Diablo 2 then I could do a comparison.
Edit: I do love the customization that PoE allows! I’ve already deviated slightly from the build that I’m following, but not so far that I can’t correct if I need to at endgame. The build has a Stone Golem as a golem minion, but I went with the Carrion Golem, it looks too cool. I’m also thinking about going for the Golem Commander passive skill that buffs golems and increases the max golems by +1. If that then allows mixing two types of golems, I’ll see if I can’t add in a Stone Golem gem, just for more minion fun.
Funny, that after I posted this morning, I went back and played the necro some more, and finished Part 1. I am also not running the build exactly, as I found some defensive Vaal rune that I am using also. I am also using Carrion Golem.
Where is Golem Commander? I don’t see it on the planner?
Edit: nevermind, I found it.
PoE is amazing, I can see why some folks who may find the gameplay less interesting (it’s probably a good match for me in that it’s not mechanically overwhelming, it’s not like it’s Dark Souls difficult), get absorbed into tinkering with builds and such! The complexity, options and flexibility are entertainment in their own right!
Edit: LOL, I was answering as you were editing, it appears!
I’ve been playing Resident Evil games since the first one, and they are still doing this. What part of that looks impassable to you, FFS? Nearly 25 years of them simply not putting the effort in to make routes look even half-blocked.
Oh well. Here’s to another 25.
Roundguard on Apple Arcade is a lot of fun.
So, book of demons, does it play well through to the end? I just beat the cook with the fighter.
For all the positive reviews for the game, I continually bounce off it. I’m not sure why; it just doesn’t scratch the Diablo itch like I had hoped. Being iPad-only doesn’t help its cause, either. What are your thought up to where you are?
I am quite enjoying it, but feeling the push your luck loot system is odd. I am trying to figure out what good looks like and what the monster engagement patterns are.
Looks good, hope I play through to the end at least once
Are you playing on iPad or PC? I’m on iPad and I’m struggling a bit with it.
PC. I thought touch controls would be suited though?
