Having a ton of fun with Elden Ring on the Legion. The combo of it being a second play through, portability, and ChatGPT as a (sometimes unreliable) copilot makes it a great time so far.
Well the Grim Dawn has to wait a bit for Mephistoās Eclipse (I get my coat).
This weekend (after Blizzcon Event it seems) there is a limited World Boss Spawn in Diablo 4 called MOOPHISTOā¦.for a game which vehemently states that āThere is no cow level!ā there is an unhealthy obsession with the bovineā¦

Anyone see the new Warcraft III campaign? Thatās a fun surprise. I also like that Amazon was announced for D4. I think my Diablo 2 spearazon build was the first Diablo build I ever played where I played all the way into Torment (I forget if thatās what it was called then) and felt extra powerful. I think all my Diablo characters up until then Iād just play to beat the game on normal and then retire around level 32 or so.
I do love that Blizzard has released contend for older games like Diablo II and Warcraft III. Iād love to see more of this.
On the other hand, the StarCraft announcement sucked. I hate that itās not an RTS and I have doubts that we will ever even see the game. Also, while Diablo V is inevitable, I feel like the announcement was a little early. We wonāt see that for some time.

Yeah, it is very strange that we are not getting one more D4 xpac with actual Diablo in it. Where is Diablo?
I kind of like the WoW Classic+ announcement, although I was really hoping they would bring the DH into it, but I get why they are not. I might actually build a char for that, and trying to decide what. I would do a SPriest if I did not think it meant I would be asked to respec healer all the time.
I might pick up Warcraft 3 (I had the original once upon a time on CD) when it goes on sale and replay it, but in no hurry for that.
I am very excited for the HoTS announcement of Xalatath and that it appears to be comming out of maintenance. It is the only MOBA I actually like.
And two new factions for Battlegrounds is very welcome, although I wish we were not losing the Naga, I like them a lot.

Diablo is in the new season for D4. It is just a recreation of the D1 fight against him, but it is Diablo. I would guess they will have some seasonal storyline over the next 2.5 years that brings a proper Diablo boss into the game and sets up the fall of Sanctuary to lead into D5.
Warcraft 3 is unlocked on my battle.net account and marked as āNewā. I donāt think I ever purchased W3: Reforged, and I certainly didnāt purchase it recently, but I was able to install and have access to the first 2 campaigns.

Money talksā¦.instead of asking a dwindling player base for 40 bucks in 2027 they want them to pay a 100 bucks with returning players and a fresh player base in 2029.
Also Microsoft Mandateā¦.churn out key franchises faster! You didnāt monetize D4 enough! Baaad Blizzard look at PoE! You could have sold a gazillion of treasure chest upgrades!!!

This is now the second time they cut a Diablo game short and sell us the final scrapped parts at premiumā¦..who am I kidding I will buy it and like it (Spearazon was my first Diablo 2 character). And I will really like itā¦not a fan of D3 Necromancer pack, not a fan of D2 warlock as wellā¦at least both were barely bearable in D4. Only funny thing is the ordering. Zakarum and Kurgast in first expansion? We donāt get a Templar/Paladin. Skovos Birthplace of the Amazons? We get a Warlock and Paladin. Westmarch expansion scrapped? NOW we get an Amazon?

Picked it up because it was Ā£7. Pretty disappointing: the first scene involves an argument with her indoors, and putting the baby to bed, which renders the āhorrorā of the rest of the game impotent. Donāt have the first thing to bite your head off in a RE game be your wife, Capcom.

Elden Ring, still. Have made it to the dlc, which is new to me.
I have discovered that the secret to (my) success in this game is to just be horrifically overleveled for the area.

Thatās the only way I can do anything in any of the soulslikes. Iāve tried just about all of them right when they launch since Demonās Souls and I just suck too bad to be hooked for long. And grinding gets old.

The only demon souls like game Iāve ever played was Bloodbourne. I beat it and the DLC to prove Iām a ārealā gamer and then swore off the genre forever.

Thatās badass. I hate that genre with a passion. But would I go for Eldenring and itās infamous DLC to prove my gaming cred? Nope! Never! Not in a million years!

Somehow I just lost most of a day playing Gargadusaās Tower. This is literally just a fantasy guild master spreadsheet game. I mean it is really a lot of spreadsheets. And since I like that, I got sucked in on this oddball find. I am guessing there are some of you who also like your spreadsheets with themes. There is a demo, so no risk.

I can confirm it works on the Steamdeck with Controller layout. Not perfect (tooltips not referencing the correct button names for once) but manageable. Was in the mood for some shooty shooty bang bang class so I went with Inquisitor/Soldier since it has been a while since I played a game of Warhammer 40.000 Inquisitor - Martyr. Which is honestly a way better ARPG than people give it credit for. And after Borderlands the best ARPG with guns. The heavy bolter in this game is sublime (DAKKADAKKADAKKAMUHAHA)
But I havenāt played much of it. Despite my earlier comment about Warlock being tolerable in D4 I have to say against my better judgement Iām having way too much fun with my Warlock right now.
Maybe it is because I am pretty motivated. It is the first season (currently season 15) since the Vampire one (season 2?) I am pretty invested and the game has changed a lot since release. Given the fact that this season is a throwback to the old Diablo 1,2 and 3 games (and a misguided attempt to appease the masses re: canceling D4 active development in favor of Diablo 5). It is really fun. And hearing some of the earworms from Diablo 2 again but now in Diablo 4 is a cheap but effective Nostalgic bomb. Also recreation of some of the iconic places from the older games is very nice.
Oh and I finally used all the free Premium currency I was to butthurt and to stingy to throw at Blizzard over the years until now and unlocked the Battle Pass this time around. They have the iconic armor sets from Diablo 2 and 3 Login/Character creation screen as unlockables. The Iconic Sorcerer and God of Wa(ahem)Barbarian outfits are too nice to ignoreā¦goshdarnit Blizzard, you got me again!
If you havenāt kept up with D4 and found the seasonal thing too niche/lazy/pointless give it a try this time around they put some serious effort inā¦.also nostalgia! So much nostalgia!
One thing I give Diablo 4 credit for is the unparalleled ways to customize your character loadout and builds. I sure as heck havenāt gotten more intelligent in the past 2,5 decades. But the stubborn āI do it my way screw netdecking!ā Builds I come up with in D4 are way more viable / playable and more fun as my attempts in D2 and D3. There you were really limited in creativity in my opinion. Diablo 4 gives me enough leeway that my themes still work fine to an extend at least in my semi-filthy-casual play style.

Same. I finally decided to tackle a game in my backlog - Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, and itās a doozy. Iām so many ways it is incredible and it is also stuffed full of too much side stuff. But the music and characters and nostalgia more than make up for the pacing issues. But itās also a monster of a game. I think Iām approaching the 80 hour mark and have plenty left to do.
Iāve found over the last couple of years that as much as I want to play so many games it is rare that one hooks me enough to stick with it. Iāve played the first 5-10 minutes of dozens of games and then put them away.

Sad but true: I actually made a spreadsheet the other day with the intention of āorganizingā my backlog and trying to identify games I still want to finish or have to start. Depressing project.
Then I went and bought Tactical Breach Wizards and Stacklands in the Autumn sale anyway.
