This is horrible–why did you show me this? Jon clearly hates my family and wants me to give them no more time.
It’s on a better sale at GOG, as are the DLCs:

It’s so addictive!!
That dysmantle game looks fun. Ill just check it out for 20 minutes before work…
So who here has ever voluntarily left bed to sleep on the couch so as not to bother their partner while they finish up “one last turn?” Asking for a friend.
Dismantle is now on sale on PlayStation, so that’s what I soon will be playing.
I try not to use Steam on my work computer often. When I do, I almost always remember to fully exit Steam. And when I forget to do that, I usually realize my mistake when I get a pop-up showing me what a friend is playing.
All of the above is a roundabout way of saying: I’m not playing much at the moment, but I know what a couple of you played in the last hour or so … and so do the students in my introductory programming lecture.
Went out and bought the Razer Kishi to play more Dysmantle on my phone…
I think the thing about dysmantle is that its just fun. The core gameplay loop is so solid, its like a rage room in video game format. They could have just called it a job well done then and there, but they didnt, they really ran with it. Absolutely absurd this game only cost me nz$10.
Also, I finally found titanium. Totally didnt use it on the quest it was intended for, but spent it on upgrades instead…you know, so I could smash up more stuff. And the games fine with that.
Interesting! I’ve played kind of a lot of Dysmantle over the past couple days, and I’m definitely digging it, but the core loop is the weakest part for me. The smashing/resource collection feels like tidying up, which I already do too much (but simultaneously also too little). Similarly, the combat is almost always a fairly rote strike-dodge-strike-dodge-etc. But the upgrades are varied and appealing, and the missions varied and often interesting (I just finished the tower which requires 6 titanium and 10 steel, and that was admittedly a slog). It doesn’t feel terribly cohesive, which means I don’t expect to care at all about an overarching story, but there’s lots of little bits of neat design.
Ive considered some of these exact issues while trying to puzzle out why I keep returning.
Im not a hoarder by nature, though there is a whole part of the game that rewards that. When I play for 20 minutes before work, going all kool-aid man through someones house is just visceral, primal.I do totally have moments where I dont want to pick up after myself though.
As for combat, theyre zombies, youve got an actual brain. It should be easy…until it isnt and you get caught out. I shouldnt be getting tagged, the combat is rote, but the buggers still get me somehow when Im distracted.
As for the design, I think thats where the devs hit their stride. A huge varied map, many different types of challenge, puzzle or encounter. Its definitely a casual game but made with more love and care than I expected
(Also I went a different way so was level 30 before I found that tower, so thats a plus for open world design)
Gah! I need some! Didn’t realize it was something you could find, thought you had to make it
ah, I apologise. I meant Id found the way to craft it. I have found lumber in a chest though, so maybe you might get lucky later in the game and find titanium
Ah. Haven’t made my way down there yet, been taking my time exploring. Need to though cause I’m level 35 and have recipes that need it.
Hey all. It’s been a while when I last was around on this site. Came looking for some mobile game recommendations now Legends of Runeterra ditched PvP. Tried Magic Arena, but didnt like it. Marvel Snap neither.
Saw some good suggestions, like Balatro and might give Star Realms some love again.
Also wanted to put this pc game on your radar. Think lots of you might enjoy it.
This looks good and is already on my wishlist. Funny though my wishlist is so big I have it set to only show me games that are at least 30% off. So I will have to wait longer.
edit: I am a huge Star Realms player, and I even travel for tournaments at times. But at the moment, I might suggest trying Hero Realms - the game development there is a focus for WWG right now, and they are building a digital version of the game that goes beyond the paper version which is really cool.
Ah ok, thanks for the suggestion. Downloading Hero Realms ASAP.
I also wonder if Draconis8 will be any good. It is an upcoming LCG from WWG in which you can play with your physical cards digitally via their app. Kickstarter next week I believe.
I do like Tactical Breach Wizards (TBW). Great dialogue in between the bite sized battles - where you have creative abilities to deploy in order to solve the current puzzle.
I have been distracted from it by Steamworld Heist 2 which has the same lure of excellent tactical battles - but more free-form and with more conventional abilities compared to TBW. Both games are easy to recommend.
Yeah, I have no interest in going back to TCGs, I switched to deck builders from Magic for a reason.
In concept, this is very interesting and seems a good deal:
But in practice, will I actually play any of this?
I will fire up Tempest, hate how it plays without the dial from the machine cabinet, declare whole app trash and delete it. (source: I think I have done this 2-3 times over the past 20+ years)
