What are you playing?

In case you didnt get the tooltip yet, x and c show your and your enemies charge range, while shift x and shift c show cones of fire for ranged weapons. Very important info to know

If you ever wanted someone to mashup Slay the Spire with Team Fight Tactics - you need not look any further, just go check out Hadean Tactics. This might be my favorite thing I have picked up in the Steam Sale this time around.

It is literally that, Slay the Spire and Team Fight Tactics.

Not like, if Slay the Spire and Team Fight Tactics had a baby it would be some mix of them.

More like if I was creating a game by stitching together one game onto another as if I were Dr Frankenstein, that is what this is.

How did you go with this game?

I have just finally started to play it, reached the last boss a couple of times but was no where near getting through it.

Seems fun and tricky, but also short and snappy enough not to get frustrated when you get thumped

It’s still really hard, no doubt, and the final boss is usually a big step up in difficulty unless you’ve put an amazing build together. I’ve found it very easy to overfill my deck and have to be careful. And just wait until you beat the final boss for the first time …

Builds that are really good at dealing damage one way (shroom/teeth/spice/overburn) tend to be most effective. Adding a couple of other effects to a few cards and having a defensive strategy (snow/shell/block) helps too. Healing is a must, whether that’s through cards, hero effects, or recalling heroes and cycling your deck quickly. And repositioning cards to distribute damage or maximize effects is necessary almost every turn.

It is thankfully a short enough game that runs are as quick as you describe, so there’s plenty of opportunity to try stuff, fail, and get right back to it (or walk away and let the frustration dissipate ).

Huh.

Now I see what you mean with final boss battle. Just wrapped up my first win with a snow / multiattack / attack power / aimless build. Card below

Wait, we’ve been talking Wildfrost this whole time? I had no idea. I’m just getting into it now.

Yeah, I love the way they handle final boss battles, but it definitely makes each run more challenging.

Maybe not the whole time…. I went and found a comment after I got into it this weekend.

Solid game, fully reccomended, but also hard.

Bough one deck galaxy, going to try sit down with the tutorial and learn ut

The story is tedious and boring. I’m at 95 and while expect it to pick up a bit, I’m more excited to finish the story and mess around with all the other activities like end-game content, new jobs, exploring all the new zones so I can fly in them, etc. Outside of the MSQ, my biggest complaint is the naming convention - this expansion seems to borrow from mesoamerican culture so most of the names have an Aztec flavor and I don’t remember any of them, for characters or locations.

Tried to get into Tactics Ogre - Reborn again - doesn’t seem to have enough fantasy for me. Only 2 hours in, might try again one day

I did buy Unicorn Overlord, so perhaps that will be a bit more fun?

Not sure how many of us play sports games—I know we don’t talk about them much—but I’ve always enjoyed them. My tastes switched toward sims like OOTP as my reflexes slowed. But my favorite franchise remained EA’s NCAA Football games, the last of which released in 2013 because of lawsuits over the use of player likenesses.

Until now, that is. The changing NIL landscape paved the way for EA to create a new game, College Football 25, which entered early access Monday and went live worldwide at midnight this morning. I bought a PS5 just so I could play the game, I just booted it up for the first time, and I’m so friggin happy to have this game in front of me again.

American football seems like it was made to be a strategy video game. The major decisions are made between turns

Good to hear. I haven’t gotten it yet by my brothers and cousins are planning to play a dynasty. I’ve been hoping it is a little more than just Madden with a college skin.

IRL buddy just bought it for his xbox too and is super excited. I got back into CoD with some guys from work, forgot how much fun it is.

I play CoD once a week with my brothers-in-law and cousins. We’ve been doing it for about 2 years now and it is, indeed, fun. I don’t like all the stupid skins and some of the flavor-of-the-moth load outs, but it doesn’t break the game. I can imagine that if I was an hours-a-day adherent like many of these guys seem to be I’d get bored of it faster, but as a social activity with friends it still delivers.

Exactly this. I smh everytime Homelander or some weird furry runs by lol.

I like what they did with the soccer players - celebrities who are still wearing combat gear. I wish they had gone down that route for their skins.
