Stately Play Perpetual Multi-game Ladder

GT is the ultimate “perfect is the enemy of good enough” building game. LOL

If I build shields, I won’t need shields. If I have lot of batteries, I don’t need them all, if I have not enough batteries, I need all the batteries, GT literally looks at my ship and then plots against me. For some reason I love that game too.

One thing I forgot to do entirely when coming back to the game is “peek” at the cards for the next flight during the build phase. Aiming for “good enough” seems to be ok, but I’m wondering if I’m ignoring a key part of the strategy entirely here! :stuck_out_tongue: (Especially noting that AI players often seem to look at the decks at some point…)

And when you just can’t quite manage to cover one “lane” with a laser or shield, guess where that big meteor is coming? (Literally just happened to me… :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:)

Crew. Never enough human crew.

Table 1 complete - GG!

It was pretty close after a low scoring first round, but I managed to grab a bunch of cargo and take and keep the “pole position” for an overwhelming second round.

Gg! Grats to @Baelnor on the win.

As much as I would like to claim it, @rinelk took the chocolates

I do tend to do better in games with lots of randomness.

Hi all! As noted, we are coming to the end of “season 1” of the ladder - I hope you’ve all had fun so far.

So, a couple of housekeeping items:

  1. Please let anyone you think might be interested know about the ladder! We are at 29 participants and it would be great to get up to 30 or beyond.

  2. Vote for next season’s games! (Year 1, Season 2 or Y1S2 for short!) I randomly selected 4 games as described above, and I’m adding Brass to a “best 2 of 3” vote for the most popular games and Roll Player to a vote for the tier 3/4 games. This is to achieve my goal that new/resurrected games will have a chance to come up ASAP in the ladder.

Keep in mind that whichever game you don’t pick in each poll will still get played at some point.

Happy gaming and I’m looking forward to some more great and possibly new-ish games coming up!

Here’s the poll for Tier 1/2

Tier 1/2 games for Y1S2
  • Brass
  • Gaia Project
  • Waterdeep

0 voters

Please also vote on Tier 3/4

Tier 3/4 games for Y1S2
  • Concordia
  • Fort Sumter
  • Roll Player

Result of table 7:

GG, my first flight, and although a lot of random stuff happens, it is a fun little game. :grinning:

Went and got Roll Player in case that gets up… it’s like a fun and interesting version of sagrada!

I believe the math would support declaring Roll Player and Concordia as two of the games for the next season.

I’ve been enjoying Roll Player too and the async is decent other than notifications instead of badges (like Wingspan was for a long time.)

A fairly simple dice placement game but fun with the theming plus some puzzle vibe plus character building. Decent replayability and - while lighter weight - it’s actually slightly “heavier” (in a good way) than Sagrada which has been played several times in the tournaments.

Agreed. Roll Player is a bit like Sagrada with a little more theming and a couple puzzles working in parallel. Which I like better depends on the situation but both are fun games.

Just because the vote for the “top tier” games is so close, I wanted to make sure everyone understood that you can/should vote for TWO of the three games in each poll. It looks like several people only voted once - which is fine if you only have one choice, but not fine if you thought you could only vote for one. :stuck_out_tongue:

I have updated my vote. Waterdeep is the only one of the first set I have, so I was happy to vote for just that. Though, oddly enough, Fort Sumter is the only one I have from the second set, and that’s the only one I didn’t vote for. A good enough game, but it’s presented with such theme that I expected the game to be less abstract. But I’d be happy to try either Concordia or Roll Player. Concordia looks as bland as a manila folder but has gotten great reviews, which makes me curious, and I own Roll Player in cardboard but have only played a few solo games.

How do I use my 2nd votes to vote against Concordia and Brass?
