This is exactly my problem* with the game. However efficiently I try and run it, I always seem to be one thing (gold/raider/provisions) behind. I tend not to use the townhall or the building that lets you scrap cards for silver or gold, so maybe there’s an efficiency step there I’m missing.
*clarity edit: I like the game, I’m just not very good at it

I also tend to only use the Town Hall or card scrapping as a last resort / way to pick up a white or grey meeple. Hiring and trying to avoid too many Valhalla deaths early is maybe too obvious a suggestion, but the only other thing I can think of is trying to get Cattle and Gold more than Stone since Provisions and Gold become a bottleneck later in the game.

Is dying a lot a viable path to victory? Bakery’s think of Blood Rage where you can actually win by getting yourself killed. But I tend to avoid it in Raiders.
I had a hero who got stronger with every death in my last game, and loaded up on vikings who gave me bonuses for attacking outposts and a gravedigger and some berserkers. So deaths helped me take advantage of those early bonuses and then respec, and kill off some dudes at low cost or with some benefits. If I’d drawn a recruiter early or managed to be efficient enough to raid any fortresses at all, I think it could have worked. But it didn’t actually.

I think that’s the most I’ve ever scored in Valkyrie points.
We are done. @Baelnor led the way, @JMH.75 pushed past with varied play but I sneaked an extra Fortress. Good game!

@js619 I think you are up in our game. I’d normally be fairly patient but I’m going on a vacation in a week that will see me off the grid from time to time. The more I can get done this week the less you’ll all be waiting on me to finish up the game.

Sorry, took it last night. Was tied up with camp visiting day and a mother-in-law in the hospital.
Yes, you can win focusing on that track but you’ll still need points elsewhere. I’ve seen that track maxed out a number of times. If memory serves, @zen4one won a couple that way.
Is Galaxy Trucker coming up? It’s on sale right not if anyone doesn’t have it.
