Stately Play Decathlon 2022!

Table 4 is nearing the final round. Should finish in the next day or so. It’s very tight and anyone’s game at this point.

Good game.

Table 4 is done. Scoring is so hard to monitor during the game. I was certain I was fighting with @JaneHatke for 2nd, so I spent nearly the whole 8th round playing Intrigue cards purely for sabotage effect.

Good game all! Congrats to our winner!

Darn those skulls… so irresistible but can be so costly in the end!

Just an update since we are down to only Table 1 … we just finished Round 6 of 8 and it is a close contest as expected!

For the rest of you, don’t forget Concordia is next (and last!) so now is a good time to get the app and play some practice turns/games if you haven’t already.

An excellent game with a nail-biting finish - thanks and kudos to @feederofgoats and @Schlotzky!

As often seems to be the case with Skullport, the penalties made the difference - and I was able to grab the quest that lets you return an extra skull each time. GG!

Great game! I think this one is much more satisfying than the sum of its relatively simple parts would suggest.

Sorry I played a bit slow compared to the rest of you.

Excellent game, I agree I always end up enjoying myself more than I think I’m going to going in with this one.

Well, folks, we made it - again! Here comes the final game of the (ahem) 2022 Decathlon!

And we are going out on what I’m sure will be a high note - a new game to the Decathlon which has an excellent BGG rating of 8.1 and ranks #21 amongst all games (#19 in Strategy!) - Concordia!

There are a ton of maps and features available as DLC with this one, but from the base game I would recommend the Italy map (a little tighter for a 3P) or if you have the Salsa expansion (my first choice) then pick the Hispania map and throw in Salt for more of a challenge!

Sort out those details with your table and then the first player at each table will please start a Private game with no time limit and max players 3. Send a DM to your table partners with the password for the game.

The winner will please post a screenshot of the final scores and then I will tabulate the final standings for what has been another great event!

Here are the penultimate standings and table groups - I’ve included scores and number of wins since we are down to the wire and I figured some folks will be interested… (reminder: the tie breaks for the final rankings will be number of wins followed by head-to-head record if necessary.)

Happy gaming!

I love the standings.

@feederofgoats and I need to make sure @Codington comes in last for one of us to tie for the lead.

If @Schlotzky or @irishdomer08 win their game, they are likely to tie for 2nd place.

And wins from @Hardco, @Baelnor, @Notsew12345 and @doublebullout can all still tie for 3rd place I think?

I will spend some time in the next few days looking at the tie breakers for obvious reasons! :stuck_out_tongue:

In case the tie breakers include shameless flattery, let me just say that @Codington has been a most excellent and marvelously effective tourney master. Incredibly good looking, too, I’d wager.

@kennfusion - ok, you prompted me to finally update all the key info in the rankings sheet

Key follow-ups to your comments/questions, focusing on just the “medal” standings (top 3) :

  1. If Table 1 ends up @kennfusion beats @feederofgoats beats @Codington
  1. If Table 1 ends up @feederofgoats beats @kennfusion beats @Codington
  1. If @Codington wins Table 1
  • @Codington wins the Decathlon on points
  • If @Schlotzky or @irishdomer08 win Table 2, they beat out 2nd place at Table 1 for Silver in the Decathlon (more wins)
  • If @Hardco wins Table 2, there’s a possible log jam for Bronze
  1. If @Codington places 2nd at Table 1
  • @Codington wins the Decathlon on points
  • Winner of Table 1 takes Silver
  • Winner of Table 2 can outright take Bronze or win the tie break (getting too complicated to lay this out  )

That’s about all I have the brain power for at the moment except to say in the “Most likely to want revenge” category, @whovian223 has been bested by @SpiceTheCat the most of any head-to-head match up. :stuck_out_tongue:
