Does anyone have a website that tracks iOS sales? I’ve used AppSliced for a number of years since AppShopper shut down, but now it looks like AppSliced is shutting down at the end of the month.

Apparently Sony recently announced that Jeanne D’Arc will be released in their PS Plus catalog for PS4 and PS5. That’s cool!

You can also buy it standalone if you want (for about 10 units of discomfort in your local area).

It is a …barebone port but it is fine overall. If you have played the Valkyrie Profile Lenneth port from 2 years back you know what to expect.
A bit time to adjust yourself may be needed…high-def 3D Models of the units with the original pixellated textures/videos/etc.

New (outside upscaled Character Models) is the savestate/rewind feature (again like in VP:L) and PlayStation trophies if you are fond of them.

All in all a solid (albeit a bit campy) jSRPG. That it can be enjoyed outside of PSPlus is a nice bonus I can respect (I have the sub but I know how some can be irked by that service)

Clank! just landed in Early Access on Steam.

What’s that price point like compared to their other Steam games? I’m waiting on the iOS version and I hope it isn’t more than their new Dune tier.

Not sure what it’ll be like on mobile, but on Steam it’s about a pound more than Dune is currently and about double the price of Munchkin or Root’s base game. I think it’s worth it, but as miuch as I like Dune Imperium, Clank is my favourite of their in house games (they also made the tabletop games for both of those)

The port seems very solid from what I’ve played so far and they’ve added in a new seasonal “heist” that has new rules and scoring for a seasonal leaderboard which changes up every 3 days and a few varieties of challenge modes that didn’t exist in the physical board game. Also has asynch or live online play and pretty decent solo AI opponents.

Also on Steam, which also offers a free demo. Haven’t had the time to look into it but looking forward to your impressions.

Is it out? I’ve been looking at it in the “coming soon” section for a good half a year? I, too, am interested in impressions.

Just a small follow up, “f2p” and “gatcha” aren’t necessarily a bad thing, but very likely are. I don’t completely mind a slot machine system for new characters. What I hate, and what is unfortunately in almost every f2p game, is the level-up system where you don’t level through gameplay but you level (either characters or equipment) through grinding extra copies of them, or tokens, or whatever, and then spending these currencies to level in a menu. That ain’t for me, dawg.

I think it comes out 1 Aug - I don’t normally take a look, but saw that Tobold had posted about it - so thought I could check it out for a low investment of my time.

I’ve noticed two trends in the App Store over the last number of months:

The first is that a number of games that launched on Apple Arcade were removed from the subscription service and later re-released as a premium app.

The second is that a number of premium games (For example, Crypt of the Necrodanncer and Battle Chasers: Nightwar) originally released as premium app and have recently been removed and replaced under a subscription service.

What a bunch of confusing nonsense.

Interesting observation!

I have actually found myself engaging less and less with the App Store.

Every now and then I will browse, say, top 200 apps, but I either have them or they have no interest. It is almost as if there is less and less being released.

I went back and downloaded a bunch of Kairosoft games on the kids iPads from, like, 8 years ago…. They are loving them!

Anyone know if this changed from, say, megamall to megamall2?

Seems like they have rereleased a bunch…

I haven’t noticed Kairosoft changing much over the years. Sequels tend to be similar to the originals. Beware that they have occasionally dabbled with a f2p model, so there are a couple with a free version and a premium version, like with Beastie Bay.

Rise of Ix out for Dune Imperium.

They succeeded on mobile over the past decades but interestingly enough they listen to feedback from their community despite being successful? Guess what, a “mainly” mobile developer listening to feedback and hurting its bottom line? What a novel idea!

To be more specific: They tried doing some f2p crap in some of their games and sequels on mobile but despite the “success” and “crazy amount of downloads” they are gradually moving away from that.

Even better they release previously mobile F2P-only games now as premium games on Switch and Playstation store (and Steam) with all the MTX nonsense removed. Sure there are some balancing issues with games that were primarily developed to nickel and dime you but overall they have made a successful move in self-restraining their greed.

So if you see a game with the “DX” in the name then it is a re-release as a premium game (Dream House Days DX or Beasty Bay DX for example)

Also, they go on sale often enough, so I can live with the initial higher cost of playing them on “premium” devices. I don’t drink, and have stopped smoking over a decade ago, but if I need a moment to relax and come-down in the armchair in front of the real-not-real cozy fireplace in the evening the games of Kairosoft work wonders.

Deku Deals is great for monitoring Kairosoft sales on the consoles.
You can see here all the current localized 55 games and which ones are on sale. Clicking on the game itself you can track their price graphs and whatnot. One thing to note the site started out as a Nintendo Switch only tracker, so you might have to click a bit in the preferences to also track PlayStation (Xbox, Amazon) prices as well.

Thanks mate!

Anybthat stick out to you as favourites?

I am assuming you mean if they are still fun? Yes, yes they are. Some of their newest games
(Boxing Gym Story, Jumbo Airport Story, Forest Golf Planner) are a blast!

Depending on the age of your kids, maybe Beasty Bay, Zoo Park Manager, Grand Prix Story, Home Run High, etc may be more up their alley.
I really like that they can copy and paste their genius style on nearly anything. Horses? Check! Sushi? Check! Ski Resort? Check! Pseudo-Pokemon? Check! Hot Springs? Cinema? News outlet? Idol management? Feudal Japan Towns? Feudal Japan in the warring states period? Check, check, check check, check and check!

Just think a minute about what they might like…I guarantee you you find a (at least semi-)perfect Kairosoft game for them

That being said I really hope they port over Grand Prix Story 2 in a DX form…for not having any ounce of compassion or interest in cars or Formel 1 or all that I had a blast with the first Grand Prix Story!
Had a blast with the good old (still running wth?) Hajime-no-ippo boxing manga had me craving for some boxing glove action…in comes Boxing Gym Story…

…ok maybe I should stop now you get the picture…

Edit:

Ninja Village > Grand Prix Story > Jumbo Airport Studio > Game Dev Story (Kairosofts first “real” success which laid the groundwork for all to come) > Boxing Gym Story > Forest Golf planer >March to a million

Currently trying to get into Home run high (those damn Baseball mangas made me a convert) and Pocket League (Soccer).

Edit 2: (sorry for spamming)
There is exactly ONE youtube channel who goes hard on Kairosoft games, so maybe if you want more info and like his self-referential humor, Wow its bow has a couple of good videos about Kairosoft games.

I had bought Dungeon Village 2 (since DV was my favorite back in the day) and I liked it but just have not had time to get into it. I downloaded DV2 onto my daughter’s ipad and it is her favorite game for when she does not have internet access (nothing is better than Roblox to her if there is internet).
