What do you mean by “War Chest”. Do you mean the physical game War Chest (which would be awesome btw) or something Dune Imperium specific? I am asking because I can not recall it in the physical game.
Dune Imperium specific. The War Chest thing is like a periodic alteration (usually significant) to the game rules to spice things up for a while.
Event Rule:
War Chest
- At the end of each round, the player(s) with the most Solari recruit a troop to their garrison.
Ah, the system itself isn’t called War Chest, it was just that event.
What I was describing is their event system, where they change the rules up a bit every now and then.
Thanks for all the suggestions about dice ‘building’ games.
Unfortunately not much in the vein of Quarriors, sadness. (Not to mention lack of async play on any form about dice games)
As I didn’t see them mentioned and because it seems there is interest in these kind of games, here are the others I quite liked that are still available (more general dice boardgame games than dice builders).
Bottom of the 9th
Deep Space D6
Sagrada
Roll for the Galaxy
I really like Race for the Galaxy and loved when it was in Decathlon and stuff around here. I should play some random matchups in the app.
I have never played Roll for the Galaxy. Is it similar? How is the app?
I can’t answer your question on Roll, but I just played some games of Race with a friend and it is working great. Notifications are reliable. The only problems are friend codes (annoying) and screen ratio. Nothing game-breaking.
It’s been long since I last played but it’s similar in the sense you create a galactic empire acquiring cards; gameplay is a tad different tough becasue every turn you roll some dice and assign them to various possibile actions.
Actually happening actions are the one (just one) you decided plus the ones selected by your opponents (assuming you gambled some dice there too). Then actual phase occurs and you acquire a new card for your empire, or new dice for more options later, or money to buy things…etc.
The app is very similar to RftG (same dev, same everything I woudl say).
As much as I love dice, I liked Race more expecially with the expansion that lets you directly attack your opponent…but it’s just because I don’t like competitive score chasing games. If Roll had a similar mode, I would have liked it more probably because I love those cool custom dice.
Have you ever played Dice Forge at the table? You get to customize your dice faces on the fly. It’s not the heaviest of games but it is fun.

Loop Hero is coming to mobile in April … I like the game on PC but think it’s gonna get a ton more playtime on my iPad.
Loop hero is a really good game. Its an ideal fit for mobile
Roll for the Galaxy is a great game and an excellent app. full stop.
@Pitta Since you mentioned Sahara even though it is fairly far removed from your requests, have you tried Roll Player? It shares Sagrada’s DNA where you are filling your board with dice but there is much more of a puzzle in how they are manipulated to your advantage. It is also available on mobile and is a quality app.
Yeah thanks! Already own it tough
Does Dominion have the “generous host” feature where people can play with whatever expansions the game host uses?
Yeps! As Mysterio can testify. We’ve played many a game with all exps and only I was silly enough to buy them all as soon as I was able to in the beta.
Dominion cross platform works well too; I’m able to play on both iOS and Steam. My game with @kennfusion seems to have disappeared though, unless I missed something?
When hosting Dominion games, keep in mind that, although the official rules don’t allow one to look at cards in their draw or discard piles, I’d advise allowing this for asynch games, since it’s a challenge to remember what cards one has acquired when not playing in RT, especially over multiple, concurrent asynch games.
Yeah, I was thinking about this as I have been playing multiple async games. Star Realms is similar in that you cannot look at your deck in the tabletop game, but they enable it for online.
I am going to start all new games now with custom rules of
Fully Visible Deck and Discard
Undos Authorized
Log Fully Visible
Be careful with undos.
I set my rules to “beginner” and I can literally undo everything back to the start of the game, including my opponent’s turns.
hmmmm, ok - maybe not undos
edit: There are Authorized, Unlimited, No Red and None. I just need to avoid Unlimited I think.
