I’ve asked the same thing on my media’s. Been a few days. Not cool if it’s going to be radio silence.
Really frustrates me with the gaming industry in general how a great game can so quickly and often be hampered by abandonment and lack of valuing their clientele. But that’s a different rant, yet looking familiar here.
As if you wouldn’t simultaneously update the premium version with the most requested and asked about feature, especially since it’s evidentally now available/developed, yet here we are. Maybe I’m jumping too soon but I think I can make out what looks like a kick to the teeth already tbh.
I am torn a little here…
I loved sts and think it has given me plenty of love and value.
I won’t buy it again, but I understand they want to try and extract more from those who will
Zen kind of did the same thing with their pinball apps and a much-improved and modernized Apple Arcade version.
It seems that today is Dragon Castle day. From @OhBollox playing it at the table to him inviting me to a digital game to me discovering that Horrible Guild games are on sale on iOS. That’s:
Dragon Castle
Similo
Potion Explosion
Railroad Ink
All four are good apps with the two caveats that HG had no network for a good six months and I have yet to try their infrastructure and that Potion Explosion is an older app and I haven’t tested it lately.
Ridiculous Fishing just got the Slay the Spire treatment with a new Apple Arcade version. While the old version still exists, it is unplayable. Hopefully this means the old version will be updated?
StS cloud saves are now live in the premium iOS app.
The update note says: “Players will be able to transfer their Slay the Spire save progress to Slay the Spire+ on Apple Arcade.”
That is a very interesting way of saying simply iCloud save has been added, isn’t it?
Nevertheless have briefly tested it and it works! Very happy.
It gives you a save select option when you log in, I guess when it sees a local and cloud save disrepency
Interesting.
I see no indication at all that there is any kind of cloud save in the game itself (having started from scratch) but under my iCloud setting I do see StS.
Yeh I noticed the same. It seems you just kind of have to trust it, and on the next device trust that you will see an option to select cloud or local save, which is what I saw when I tested it.
I think it’s working similar to the likes of monster train, which from memory asks you which save when you load the game (if there is a discrepancy), but otherwise shows no other indication.
Arnold Rauers’s new game Geo Gods is out. I only played the into game but I think I like it. It is a drafting game where each tile interacts with the others around it on a small hex grid, so it feels a little different from his other games while still retaining the thinky solitaire feel of what you can expect from him.
Also new is a game on the App Store called Temporal War. I know nothing about it but the aesthetic caught my eye. It is a premium game, it looks like a card game, and it has a comic book look. Oh, and it’s about a future Red Dawn scenario. I haven’t tried it, but if anyone knows anything about it or has actually given it a go I’d love to know.
A little follow-up on the above:
First, 148apps.com reviews Temporal War and they really disliked it. The review convinced me to probably pass in this one.
As for Geo Gods, I like it but games are samey-enough that I don’t know that I’ll play it a ton. The art, the drafting, the powers, etc. are all good, though I don’t always know what bonuses I’m getting from the elemental stones and why. Much like other of his games, though, you’ll have seen most of what there is to see after playing a couple times. At that point, if you enjoy the optimization and high score chases, I’m sure the game is excellent. I am rarely hooked by these solitaire games so while I appreciate it, it’s not going to last long in my phone. I felt the exact same way about Miracle Merchant, and in a way this game offers a similar experience (though a much different game).
Agree 100% on Geo Gods. I was really interested in the early prototypes, so I joined the beta a while ago … and now I’m not that interested in the final release because I’ve seen so much of the game already.
1775: Rebellion hadn’t been updated in 5 years and then just hours ago version 3.0 dropped. The patch noted only say “various bug fixes” but for those of you who enjoyed the game maybe there is a reason to check it out again.
Edit: I fired it up and at the very least they’ve added modern screen ratios so it is full screen again on my phone. They may have removed any online multiplayer, though, At least I didn’t see the option anymore.
Yes, I saw that. I’ll have a look this evening in case some of the jank has gone, in which case I’d be up for dealing with the rebellious colonists again. Except if removing the jank includes removing MP, of course, which honestly wouldn’t surprise me.
Edit - yes, looks like online play has gone. On the one hand, wtaf, on the other hand, eh.
Rats, I was half looking forward to another go at this one! The after action reports are still some of my favorite posts on this site lol.
Everdell updated today and even though they for some reason refuse to add an undo button, they’ve added an option that makes placing your workers more deliberate with a double click or something.
It seems Twin Sails is recently entirely gone from the iOS AppStore. This includes Terraforming Mars, Ticket to Ride, and a few others. What the…
But still here, present and correct in the UK … at least right now …
I’m sure many of you are on the Acram email list, but for those who aren’t, they announced today that Stone Age will come to Steam August 22nd and other platforms later in the year.
