I think it is $12.99.

No someone needs to resurrect Sim Golf for iOS.

And I hear you with the progressives. The first time I got them I actually returned them after a week. Once your body gets used to them, though, you’re fine. And it is so much more convenient that swapping glasses for different things or carrying around readers for when you want to look really old in public while you struggle to read your dinner menu…

Ha! Fully agreed! I think the worst part is the loss of peripheral vision tbh.

eta: Although the loss of peripheral vision is tied with the freaking cost of the lenses, good lord.

I agree with all of this, and have never been able to make them work for me. So it’s three different prescriptions and many pairs of glasses strewn all over the house and car for apparently the rest of my life… Fortunately, there’s Zeni Optical to get me cheap frames so when I lose them, it’s not a deal.

While not a fan of Epic Games really, or their free to play nonsense really, it must be good for developers.

One of my favorite games from last year is Shapez, and it is free on Epic Games today.

I highly recommend it. It is like an chill abstract factorio type game. It’s a really good wind-down game.

My guess is that it has sold all it could on Steam, and the money for the lockdown on Epic was too good, especially since they are developing the sequel right now.

A couple notable releases on iOS:

  • Pocket City 2. The original didn’t have the depth of something like Sim City but it was a perfectly pleasant little town builder. The sequel looks like it probably improves on the formula without changing it too much.

  • Baldur’s Gate Dark Alliance. What? This came out of nowhere. I quite liked the original when it released on the PS2 and will happily grab this one at some point.

Handlebabra makes some good apps and Sentinels is rather well polished. I just happens to greatly dislike the game. But I’d imagine this one is equally as good if you like Sentinels.

What does “cross compatibility with Sentinels content” in the app description mean?

I really like SotM, but just don’t have time to play it. The app keeps track of all the fiddling bits, which is great.

What is the difference between this new Sentinels and SotM?

It is fully compatible with the other SotM game so if you own both, all heroes, villains, and location decks can be played in either game.

While I do appreciate the art style and just in general having MOAR content in my SotM, it really just is another expansion to the main game that, I guess, could be played stand alone.

I guess the biggest bit that distinguishes it from the previous game and expansions is that it’s based around a new IP.

@KYakerDude
I hear ya on the game nicely managing the fiddly bits, while I’m sure the digital port will always goof up on some obscure interactions once and a while, the fact that it can keep all of the game’s interactions straight is pretty amazing. I don’t think I could ever go back to playing the physical game after seeing how insanely recursive some of these interactions get with a single card triggering all sorts of automated responses by the various heroes, villains, and locations which in turn can trigger even more interactions.

Thanks for the info about the differences. Like I said, I like it, but it is not a light game. I have to really think about how to maximize what I’m doing in order to win. So it becomes a heavy thinking game, not a light, take a few turns while I’m waiting, game. I was hoping that SoEP would be what I was looking for.

SoEP likely won’t fit the bill for that. There’s a whole remaster of the physical game that’s been released recently (Sentinels of the Multiverse: Definitive Edition) that streamlines and simplifies the book keeping, but I don’t think that one’s in the roadmap for Handleabra yet.

I believe the intention is to re-release all of the content from the original run again within the new less fiddly system, and new content as well, but again, that’s just the physical game AFAIK for now.

Not sure about iOS, but a port of Captial Lux 2 landed on Android recently. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ycyclopGames.CapitalLux2

Yeah, that’s been put on iOS for a couple weeks but between the 90s-era graphics and that developer name it looks a bit sketchy. Do we know this is a licensed port? The developer has some other games as well like Reed Encounter and Gipsy King.

It’s officially sanctioned by the physical developer on BGG at least.

I don’t think the person who made the app is a big time developer, more of a hobbyist. There’s a few of them kicking around doing ports of PNP and smaller publisher games.

Here’s my attempt to give just the most minimal teaser for each of the new decks introduced in Sentinels of Earth-Prime:

Heroes:

Bowman: The Hawkeye of SoEP with all sorts of trick arrows.

Captain Thunder: A guy that can offer support to the team in various ways as well as shoot lightning bolts.

Daedelus: A tricky character with a lot of techniques to draw and get rid of their cards for cool effects as long as your hand never gets too big which will result in self-harm.

Doctor Metropolis: A master of locations (something like his own Environment cards) as well as being able to manipulate the Environment deck.

Johnny Rocket: A guy based around momentum ongoing cards. They can be used to play other momentum cards or destroyed to give some of his cards extra effects.

Lady Liberty: A decent support character better at healing others than herself.

Pseudo: A master shape shifter, being able to take different shapes for cool effects.

The Raven: She reminds me a bit of Wraith but with lots of clever ways to recycle her cards.

Siren: A master of weather and thus all of the cool abilities that come with that.

Star Knight: A master of trash manipulation with all sorts of powers powered by trashing cards as well as many cards that can allow him to retrieve cards back out of the trash.

Villains:

Argo: An android that imprinted on all of the core Earth-Prime heroes, both gaining their powers but also inadvertently, imprinting various vulnerabilities as it uses the heroes powers.

Grue Meta-Mind: An evil mastermind from Pseudo’s world that specializes in all sorts of psychic and shape shifting powers.

Hades: An evil devil deal-maker forcing bad deals on the heroes potentially for a minor gain but always at a heavy price.

Omega: A scary interdimensional baddy able to spawn portals that either boost him and his minions or mess with the heroes. If he ever has 6 of these breaches in play at any one time, he wins.

Environments:

Farside City: A freaky city on the far side of the Moon with a lot of indestructible artifacts which, if brought to 0 hp will continuously damage EVERYTHING else every Environmental turn.

Freedom City: A wondrously hero friendly city will automatically draw the ire of any villain (lots of locations that are automatically damaged by the villain as well as letting the villain play an extra card from their Villain Deck once destroyed).

Tartarus: The home of Hades filled with all sorts of spirits (fairly neutral entities) and torments (things that exist solely to torment heroes).

The Terminus: Omega’s home realm, filled with all sorts of hazards for the heroes.

Are TtA notifications down for anyone else?

Yes, but I didn’t know until I checked. Interestingly, as soon as I checked I got my notification badges.

Roll player just updated to add online multiplayer. The description says it is cross platform and that “you can start a game on one device and finish it on another” so I assume that means it is asynchronous.

Both by the looks of it. Create online game has options in set up for Real time with choices of 3 5 or 10 minutes per move with reserve of 5 10 15 minutes.
Turn based options are 24 or 48 hours per move.
