Just got an email from White Wizard stating the Epic, the digital adaptation of the card game, will release on February 18 for iOS, Android, and Steam. I was frankly surprised, since it’s been in Alpha on Testflight so long that I stopped playing it.
Email says the game will be completely free and you’ll be able to own unlimited copies of every card, also for free. DLC exists for cosmetic upgrades (foil cards, etc), extra deck slots, and arena / tournament play.
I remember enjoying the cardboard when I played it a while back.
I think that’s what sold me on it at first - that Magic feeling without having to chase down a million packs. I liked that it was all self contained in one box, too, and iirc there was a drafting variant instead of spending time building decks. I know some people get into the meta of deck building, but it was never for me.
I’m on the Epic card game beta TestFlight as well. It’s quite decent implementation and the gameplay is pretty great. Though I agree it’s been in beta strangely for years now. I couldn’t believe how often for how long they pushed out testflight update after update.
Will be good to finally have a release version, but I’m not at all liking the sound of this freeness.
Magic: ManaStrike is out on iOS. It seems to be Magic: The Gathering meets Clash Royale. It is probably as bad as it sounds. I’ll probably try it at some point anyways because MtG…
Disgaea 1 Complete is available on iOS now. The bad news is that is is $33 (US). I personally dislike how many systems Disgaea tries to cram into the genre, but it is still a quality strategy RPG. I’d likely buy if for 1/3 of that price but is anyone takes the plunge (@Private_Prinny?) let us know how it plays.
The Problem is, I have the game on PS2, on PSP, on DS (kinda cough) and on Steam.
So I like the series to death and especially the first game, and the aforementioned Steam purchase was voting with my wallet for the support of that kinda games to be released and localized on PC. I couldn’t do that in good conscience now on the iPad (still unemployed, money is tight).
My fear is…since there is so much clicking involved it may be a bit too much on iPad?
I like the FFT on iPad, but I think I will revisit the PSP version the next time I feel the urge to play that game since the controls are more to my liking.
And Disgaea is more involved in that sense than FFT (in regards to how much clicking is involved since you can do way more stuff in Disgaea than FFT).
Company of Heroes is releasing on iPads Feb. 13 for $14. I’ve preordered already. Feral is an iOS rockstar and ill buy just about anything they work on.
Thai makes it sound as though you believe Disgaea is somehow superior to FFT. But. Surely. I’ve somehow. Misunderstood you.
I agree with your assessment that there would be too much clicking. That’s a good point. And I 100% agree that the first one is the best one, hands-down. I stopped messing with the series after the third…I think? It was a while back. I mean the concept alone of questing inside your weapons sort of makes me dizzy.
Err…I tried to specify that since I thought that as well. Disgaea is more WHACKY than FFT, but in every other aspect FFT wins.
I like Disgaea for the whacky humor…the darn side content (Weapon leveling and optional dungeon stuff to improve stats) is boring as hell.
Did you ponder playing Disgaea D2?
Thats not Disgaea 2 its Disgaea D2 (a brighter darkness) which is a DIRECT sequel to Disgaea 1 (unlike all other Disgaeas which are self contained like the Final Fantasy games)
I have it on PS3 and was hoping it will be re-released on other platforms but it seems that it didn’t do so well comercially…
Dood. I did not know of this. Why is this only on a platform I have no interest in owning?? I would play that. That’s kind of what I was looking for with those other sequel things.
