And I usually like to rush the end of game by filling up my town with buildings.
The Large Sugar Mill just made me think you were going for the Guild Hall, so I bought it when I had the chance even though the City Hall was better for me at the time. (Plus buying the Guild Hall is usually best in the long run anyway!)
It’s often a tough choice between Wharf / Harbour or a bonus points building - especially when someone else is clearly going for a Shipping strategy - but between @Hardco and I both trying to rush the end, it did turn out to be too little too late.
My surprise was that @JMH.75 took Mayor at the end - I assume it was to make sure he got a colonist in his Fortress (and to get more points from the Fortress for getting extra colonists) but it definitely meant that Wharf didn’t get put to full use.
Having said all that, with a 3 point gap between 1st and 3rd place it’s hard to say anyone made a “mistake”! Again, a great game all around.
Flooding the colonist ship goes hand in hand with the builder strategy so you can some production going while you get your quarries online.
I needed more money in the short term, and the Large Sugar makes a better incidental build when the second quarry comes online, but yes, the Guild Hall is always in the plans.
I was more surprised that you didn’t Mayor right after grabbing the Guild Hall, as I thought ending the game would benefit you most, but I didn’t do the math on whether it would definitely end it, as I wasn’t going to take it.
I guess that’s enough deconstruction of a week old game of PR?
some dirty details anyone?
it was a GG and a new Concordia experience for me.
i have been always convinced that winning the Saturn+Jupiter+Mercurius categories would secure a win, but Chris managed to keep it close and scored big in Minerva.
the biggest chunk of VPs was scored by Mirefox though. just not enough other points.
Concordia offers more ways to victory than it seems at first glance.
btw Chris finished the game by building 15 storehouses.
