Battle of Polytopia going multiplayer

I’d hope they weren’t stored as a string instead of a unique game number on the server.

Bummer! That looked like it was going to be a good game

who would be ready to play a fast game with 4-5 moves per day?

I’m in, @JammaTal. Pacing of the mp hasn’t been up to my liking so far, especially for a game like this that lives on my iPhone.

yup, and the turns are so short that they can be done in no time and between.

anybody else for a fast game?

I’ve played a few medium size might victory games and the end game provides a good chunk of interesting decisions. Perhaps with a large map and 2 players that end game would be greatly extended

I’m guessing this game is going to be faster than you hoped. As we haven’t met yet I can only assume youre on an island, and on an impoverished vengir island at that. I’ll grab a screenshot when we are done to show the starting position imbalance.

absolutely isolated! on an island but no access to water (except to a small lake). only one forest. hopeless.
i had to develop forestry for improving my city, but with 4 stars income each development takes ages.
bummer :unamused:
i found a giant in ancient ruins but no way to exploit my military might in early game. now it’s too late.
ready to resign.

only way to transform fields into farms is to plant forests to burn them down?
long way to develop three different tech trees.

If you research farming, a field might pop up? I forget if you see them beforehand or not… or research ports, that’ll grow you two at least for that little square?

@js619 is correct. Research Organization and a farmable field might pop up @JammaTal

I’m happy to start over if you like, it’s your call. That is a really rough start, isolated with no port. I’m not sure how I would get out of that myself. I do wonder if there’s any farms there though. I assume the vengir rely on an early blitz to steal arable land from others.

i have researched organization but nothing popped up.
no, there must be crop to develop a farm.
on a field you can grow forest.
you can burn the forest to get crop.
then you can build a farm.

you need to research hunting+forestry, archery+spiritualism, organization+farming and riding+free spirit+chivalry.
loong way to go if you start with just one forest on an island without sea harbor access.

Vengir Blitz. definitely. a central start would have been fine :expressionless:

i thought i had to level up my town to expand my sphere of influence.
researching sailing (ship, harbor, coast) or navigation (battleship, ocean) can do it?

Farmable land is usually hidden from the Vengir at the start, until they research Organization. So if you researched it, and none popped up that really is bad luck. I usually get at least one.

Part of the balancing for starting with one of the best units in the game.

so only “popping up” for the Vengir? very interesting. think i must read the Polytopia Wiki.
when i researched organization and farming i already had grown some forests, so only 1 or 2 fields left in that moment.

so i may have minimized my chances. that and bad bad luck in this game.
my plans to mimic the Dothraki were obsolete right from the start when i saw my starting position :slight_frown:

@geigerm, you have timed out in two Polytopia games for some time now.
do you want to go on playing? or should i kick you?
no badges for Polytopia, only notifications.

Ugh, sorry about that. If I don’t play right away when I see the notification I tend to forget. Played those turns a minute ago.

I’m the same way - it sorely needs badges.

I don’t understand why games don’t include badges. It can’t be hard to do, can it? The Acram games don’t have notifications, from what I remember, and it frequently kills the momentum on online games.
