3 Video Game Wishes

I have heard about it, but as I understand it, it’s not really available on any platform nowadays.

Nope. It’s mind of like Jeanne D’Arc in that way; dead game, dead console.

glad that i own it as DVD (and an intact PS2), so i can play it again.
different endings.

The necroposting strikes back ™

(I see a pattern here)

Since Jeanne D‘Arc was rereleased recently; It seems I am not the only one who has powers over here? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Nope, it’s kind of like Suikoden Tactics in that way; dead game, dead console.

Kinda glad the collector set already sold out. I was too tempted.

Huh - that’s an interesting choice….

I like that. I almost never buy collector’s editions of things, because I never know I’m going to like them enough to want that until I already have the game and have tried it out, and once I know I really like it, it feels daft to buy another copy of the game.

To be fair, there was another option with both the game and the stuff. Emphasis on was.

I don’t know, guys, I know I’m in the minority but I can’t say I’m immensely thrilled with this one. Don’t get me wrong, I adore FFT and have owned it in just about every iteration from its first launch to both iOS versions, but this looks a lot more like a re-release on modern consoles than anything especially new. Yes, it gets a bit of a facelift, but this isn’t the big, grand remake I was hoping for. I know it’s pipe dreams at this point but if they ever made a FFT remake akin to the love and polish of their FFVII remake, I’d preorder immediately.

They didn’t include Ramza is the new Magic: the Gathering Final Fantasy set. Seems like a missed opportunity to show they consider FFT an important piece of the franchise.

Really? I’ve done everything I can to avoid spoilers so I can fully enjoy my cards as I open them. It’s a shame that there’s no Ramza but plenty of FFXVI characters.

Counterpoint: I don’t think they have the skill to completely remake the game and do it right. I don’t think they have for years. This is absolutely just a facelifted port, and I’m cool with that. If they had done nothing to it at all and just released it to modern consoles I’d have bought it again for the Switch without hesitation. The only downer to me is losing the WotL content. Some of it was filler, but some of it was fun. And I liked the ornate translation, it fit the setting.

I do wish it was cheaper, though. I have l i t t l e m o n e y.

Another counterpoint: I resent them for re-releasing old games with facelifts. They know what a following FFT has and they know what a landmark game it is. So make us FFT 2 already. It’s been almost 30 years since this game first came out on PS1, and while WotL improved it in several ways, what everyone really wants is a new FFT. Make that, and they will get my attention (and money). If other franchises (Fire Emblem, for one high-end example; Mercenaries Tactics on Switch being a lower tier example) can bring us new games every 4 or 5 years (or less), I don’t see what the issue is here.

I cooled down quite a bit as well after more info was released.

In typical Square(soft) fashion, they haven’t stored/archived most of their game files and stuff (see FF8 remaster) and had to redo huge (if not all) parts of the game from scratch. Since the now new actual team “did not work on the PSP War of the Lion (WotL) version,” they opted to preserve the original game instead.

Insert (I call BS].jpg here)

Don’t get me wrong—the original game with sensible localization (for non-native speakers at least) is nice and all, but I quite liked the WotL cinematic cutscenes very much. Oh well, rewatching them cutscenes on YT along the next playthrough is then.

What makes you think they could do FFT 2 right? I have no confidence in that.

Culdcept for iPhones. Without IAP shenanigans. That is my wish.

There, I fixed that for you.

Oooh. I played Culdcept on the 360. I don’t love love it, but if it popped up on either Switch or mobile it would have my attention.
