@Mysterio - thoughts on The Iron Oath? Looks like you have spent some time on it?
I have! But I havenāt fired it up in over 1.5 years (April 2022), during which time theyāve implemented several redesigns that I support. Now that itās exited EA, I hope to fire it up today, which means For The King II will have to wait. Thatās telling, since Iām a huge fan of For The King.
I am deep back into D4 - level 83, doing nightmare 50+ dungeons and having a blast. So much better than release - have finished the battle pass (I really should turn in my premium token to get all) and still have some stretch on season journey⦠plus some cool stuff coming out over Xmas.
I like the season 2 changes, but I picked a necro and played it to 60 and just donāt really like the necro playstyle in D4. Which is interesting as in D3, I love the necro and in D2 love the Hurricane/Zoo druid. But just donāt dig the zoo builds here.
My necro I chose to go the darkness route this time, and pivoted into Infininist when I got unique gloves. It has been amazing - really enjoying the moving cloud of death play style.
Also, tried the backpack game @kennfusion - I have no idea what is happening or how all the combos work, but I did get a bloody dagger and manager to go 10-3 with the ranger
I finally bought in to the Luck Be a Landlord hype for a road trip and I have mixed feelings. The game itself is quite fun. Building synergies is rewarding and the game is nice and quick (as opposed to some of the newer roguelikes that take a couple hours per run).
On the other hand, the game is incredibly barebones, unless there is more to unlock. I can earn achievements, but there is no list anywhere. There are also no high scores or run history of any kind. If there are unlockables or any progression it is t evident. Basically, you play the game, and thatās it.
Still, a good time-waster.
Edit: There are 100 Game Center achievements that are just listed as ā1%ā ā2%ā etc. all up through ā100%.ā No explaination is given but Iāve had a couple of them pop up and I think they correspond to obtaining that percentage of in-game achievements but, again, there is no list that Iāve seen.
@Mirefox are you playing on iOS or PC? On iOS go to Stats and there is an Achievements section. Also there are 20 levels. Oh, and a Landlord to deal with.
Iām on iOS. There is no stats tab that I know of. Iāll attach a pic of the Home Screen and options screen. Maybe Iām missing something stupidly obvious.
I just made it to floor 2 by flooding the reels with coins thanks to multiple Midas. It worked great until floor 2. Time to reasses.
Ahhhh, ok. I forgot some things. You have some floors to work on. Lotās more to unlock.
(I am playing on iOS also, so I already gave some spoilers in my previous post.)
So things will open up as I play more? Thatās good news because, like I said, the core gameplay is quite fun.
Yup, I think most of the core functions of the game are in by floor 10. And the game does start to get harder each floor.
Correct, it opens up stats and abilities as you advance.
My current hypothesis is that Luck Be a Landlord is a crap game for crap people, and that Iām a very crap person.
ive played the demo. I suspect I could be a crap person also
Have you all ever noticed that sometimes, an expansion just makes a game worse?
Let me explain. I love monster train. I played the base game a LOT and got to ascension 25 and did most pairs.
However, when the last divinity expansion came out, I really struggled. I played it a little and then train went on the shelf.
Whilst on holidays, I spun it back up on iOS and was enjoying the base game a heap again. And somehow, I had bought the expansion and my son clicked restore purchases so, started playing that only one run in.
I really dislike it. It adds wierd pacing and the new faction is super frustrating.
Anyways, would rather play as base game.
Anyone else see this sometimes? For me it is rare, but it happens!
I agree with the premise but disagree with the game - I couldnāt get enough Monster Train and the expansion just gave me more goodness.
I agree that it changes the pacing but it was just another way to learn to play.
I wish I had Dragonkin advice but it has been a while since I played.
the achievements work properly on steam, and are things like āhave a golden egg next to an eggā. There might be some progress based ones, Im not sure
Iāve unlocked the ability to see them, now. They still arenāt 1:1with the Game Center ones but I can see the in-game list. I think there is one associated with each icon.
I think the game should have had this stuff up front rather than hiding it behind progression.
Maybe I will give it some more loveā¦.
