What are you playing?

Shit, did not know that. Probably too late to go back. Trying to kill Roderick or Goderick or whatever his name is right now

Won’t work if you’ve already killed the dragon, but if not, just get to the Secluded Cell site of grace outside Godrick’s boss room and pop over there to pick up a few extra levels first if you’ve already got a bleed weapon handy.

A little before the that boss fight there is a room with an NPC in it. Talk to her and she will fight him with you.

Yeah, too late. Already killed it once.

Got her, thanks! Had him down to 1/3 Health with her and the jellyfish. He killed the npc and full on aggro’d me

I don’t really get the motivation for rune farming in the game. It’s a bit disappointing to have outleveled the content when you go back to zones to see what you missed even without grinding levels. If you can’t beat something, just go exploring elsewhere!

When you have the reflexes of a drunk tortoise being over leveled can help a bit.

Overleveled a bit sure. But most of the farming guides seem to set you up for overleveled a lot! When I first got to Margit I was getting destroyed. So I just travelled around Limgrave (in particular down to the Weeping Peninsula), and came back to Margit around level 30, when he was a more reasonable fight for my skills.

Limgrave is the zone with by far the most content in the game. I assume to some degree this was to alleviate the need for farming that you can run up against in some of the other Soul’s games… It just seems odd to repeatedly kill a sleeping dragon rather than seeing all the great content that was put in the game to help you with progression.

The main motivation for rune farming for me is that I’ve been absolutely shite at all of FromSoftware’s games so far and really don’t have the reflexes to pull off a lot of the combat. It’s essentially me just enabling my own ā€˜Easy Mode’ so I can actually progress and beat the thing without giving up out of frustration like I’ve done with Dark Souls and Bloodborne previously.

Level 75 going through Stormveil felt like the right amount of challenge for me being someone that’s not traditionally good at this type of game, I’d already slogged my way through most of Limgrave before farming and got my ass absolutely handed to me 20 times by Margit before I made the call to do it.

I tried playing it 100% above board for 18 hours with my first character and was at the point of giving up forever by the time I hit level 20 and I was no where near getting to Stormveil at that point. Prisoner was a terrible choice for my playstyle, Astrologer is way more my style.

I’m enjoying it enough at this point now though that I’m quite likely to do another run through it after this and I’ll likely be familiar enough / have the muscle memory to pull off a more melee focused class like Samurai. I just want to experience everything the first time through without having a heart attack every time I get into a difficult fight.

I’m going through my backlog and finally got around to giving Hero Emblems a proper go. The game looks great, has a completely irrelevant story, and plays well for what it is. That said, there is very little deviation from the most basic of match 3 games, which wouldn’t necessarily be bad in and of itself but the game is so grind-heavy that I would say it has become frustrating. I am at the last dungeon on casual difficulty and my game clock is nearing 30 hours. I can’t even come close to beating the dungeon’s mini bosses and I’m fully equipped with every emblem and skill available. I also don’t get great XP at my level. The game is decent but has overstayed its welcome at this point.

I was feeling a match-3 itch as well and recently went back (again!) to Marvel Puzzle Quest. I haven’t played for years at this point, and several things have changed, mostly for the better, actually. There’s a ā€œshardā€ system that makes getting characters you want a little easier, which I like. Though one of the resources seems (to my memory) to have become a little scarcer, and I definitely feel the sense of this having been even finer tuned to steer you towards wanting to make purchases. But it’s still totally enjoyable without doing that, which I give it credit for.

I picked back up Marvel Puzzle Quest about 9 months ago and have been really enjoying it. I have spent a little money, but for the most part, I find it an enjoyable grind.

@biffpow if you have not seen the new player guide, it was super helpful in giving me an idea of how to approach the game now. https://www.reddit.com/r/MarvelPuzzleQuest/wiki/new-player-advice#wiki_shards_.28formerly_bonus_heroes.29

Oh wow–that’s super helpful, Ken! Thank you!

Just started Inscryption. The reviews I’ve read seem to give the game mostly high praise and hints a some kind of big twist. So far it’s been a decent deck builder game in the same vein as StS with a little of an escape room vibe as well. Hopefully it gets better because there are much better deck builders and escape room games out there.

In lack of a better spot to pot this question…

Did anyone play Final Fantasy 13-2 and FF: Lightning Returns on PC (steam)?
How is the performance?

In my current mood for self-torment, I am playing through FF13 for real now on my PS3 to make progress on my complete FF franchise playthrough which I naively added to my bucket list about a decade ago or so…both said games are discounted on steam right now and since PS3 digital games NEVER have sales EVER I am pondering buying both games on PC if they are cheaper there.

However, I’ve read horror stories about early Square Enix PC ports but they sometimes seem to be blown out of proportion and are generally veiled attempts to hide the writer’s disdain and hate for all things modern FF (or 13 in particular). So, curious if I should go the cheap or the safe route when purchasing both games…

I can’t comment on your PC question, but I do have to say that 13 gets a bad rap. I thought it was fun and it has a great combat system. Yes, it starts out rather linear but it does open up late in the game.

I have FF 13 on Steam. I had a problem with my computer and lost my save, but this was not a problem with any bugs on the game side, it was fully on my side. I was about 30 hrs into the game, and had no technical problems at all, and I do plan to pick it back up at some point and start over. I agree with @Mirefox, I was enjoying it in my playthrough.

As I continue my backlog journey, I just started - and finished - Monument Valley. The game’s concept is neat with Escher-esque puzzles but a) it was never particularly challenging and b) I was able to complete the whole game, including the bonus level, in about an hour. It was a fun experience but almost closer to a piece of interactive art than a game. I own the sequel and am going to download it but will likely save it for a flight this summer. I’d hesitate to recommend the game when it isn’t on sale mainly because it is so brief, but it is certainly quality. I believe there is a ā€œfreeā€ version on Apple Arcade.

Speaking of ā€˜backlogs’ I had the thought a few times in the past of starting a Stately Play ā€œLet’s play a game we bought and have not played…of the month clubā€ but then realize that is more of a commitment than I might be able to handle with my gaming ADHD.
