I fell into that same mindset as well about Solitairica having elements of deck building. I think it’s the power-ups that you can buy via the earned currency at the end of each run that make it feels like there is some degree of “deck building”. Agree though that it is definitely a fun rogue like card battler and well done them I guess for the twist on the classic solitaire.
We had some friends over and they wanted to play Dominion (the card/board game), which I hadn’t played for a long time but have several expansions for, so we got into that for several hours, which was great. Now having the itch to play it, I am unable to find an app for it on ios. Is that accurate or am I somehow not seeing it? All I see are companion apps to pick cards for games. How is there no Dominion app??
You are opening some old wounds with this question
There have been Dominion apps and there was a whole saga with one botched one. I believe Temple Gate has one in the works and maybe in limited release. It’s been in the works for a while, though, and I don’t feel very highly of Temple Gate, so I am pessimistic.
I occasionally get emails from testflight to test a new version of dominion. Looks like I signed up in June 21 with Temple gate games. Maybe you can get in the beta somehow? I dunno
Temple Gates has a Dominion TestFlight link in their pinned tweet:

EDIT: … but it looks like the iOS beta is full.
I was in the Dominion beta for a while and got tired of it dragging on forever. Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s vaporware at this point.
ETA: it’s gone completely from my testflight, so…
I’ve signed up to the dominion online site (as biffpow) and have played a couple games against the bots, which have been fairly satisfying. I should at least be able to use this via the browser on my tablet, so there’s that.
I don’t closely follow game news or developer statements but Temple Gate became infamous for explicitly saying it isn’t worth their time or money to expand or update their games. That soured me on them big time and it wouldn’t shock me in the least if they drop a project that isn’t worth their effort.
The infamous Shards comment iirc
Totally agree with you about their poor showing with product support and expansions. All the more so as the rather good Race for the Galaxy was well supported but then nothing for their next 2 offerings including that infamous Shards of Infinity comment you referenced. I opted in for the IOS beta of Dominion and like @js619 got tired of it dragging on for so long. I reinstalled it earlier today and… it’s actually pretty good. In early access on Steam and they’ve gone down the path of the base card set being free and the expansions unlockable as IAP’s. I guess that incentivises them to provide some degree of expansion support to provide an ongoing income stream. They’ve currently locked all the expansions in the beta for IOS so maybe a retail release is imminent?
I got an email notification from test flight of an update a couple of weeks ago. Didnt check if its there in testflight though
I have Dominion in TestFlight on ios. It’s actually pretty great, they’ve done a superb job, it’s just taken a loooong time.
That said, I’m pretty sure it will release soonish as the talk on their discord has indicated this.
Discord: https://discord.gg/e4wDRtuuVX
To the other comments about TGG and their games, they have commented on their discord that they intend to come back for the other ones (RFTG etc) and optimise them for newer devices (those that need it l) as well as possibly do expansions………it’s just taking a long time since their focus is on dominon and they’re a small team, and so far as I can see are super focused on detail in development. I have seen they have taken an ongoing huge amount of feedback on the discord channel for their dominion game development.
Their other games are pretty great implementations. It’s just they take a long time to develop is the issue.
I never even knew, something like Ascension VR existed, until you woke my curiosity with your post. Still, I believe our current Ascension app is good as it is and needs a VR version as much as a breast plate needs nipples (simile borrowed).
I am having a sleepless night and seem to be using my excess in brain energy in contemplating about Temple Gate…
So, after passing the Dominion license to one company after the other, it seems to have landed with this company….
And from what I’ve read so far, they seem not very quick in programming, nor particularly keen about board gaming as a hobby, nor having good PR skills, nor having an innate sense about what a good digital implementation of a board game should look like, nor good in time management …
It’s hilarious!
^This. Not sure why Dominion is a thing with Ascension and Star Realms, both of which I still play daily. And are free, IIRC.
I can’t disagree with all of this but what is it of the “nor having an innate sense about what a good digital implementation of a board game should look like” are you thinking of here?
IMO, the Race for the Galaxy, roll for the Galaxy, Shards of infinity and now in particular the Dominion app are quite well done in particular for the UI for a boardgame app. So what is it you think they missed/lack in those?
I assume you are right about the aspects in the apps you mentioned. I was mainly making fun of the VR version of Ascension, which seems like a lot of energy and time wasted on a project nobody cares about. It seems they are lacking good sense here.
I can imagine this project is not easy to accomplish and, on the contrary, developing an expansion for the games you mentioned would be easier to program and is what we (their potential customers) would rather see.
We bought by son a 3D printer for Christmas and he and I have been loving it. So far all we have really done are print a bunch of fidget toys from Thingiverse to learn how the machine works and to learn how to troubleshoot problems (3D printing looks like it can be finicky).
I can’t wait to start making board game accessories. I think my first print - because it will be easy - is going to be a batch of dinosaur meeples for Dinosaur Iskand.
Have any of you found any cool, printable accessories that have been worth making?
That’s great news about their plans for the older apps after release of Dominion. Their apps have always been super polished. What let Shards down a little for me (and to a lesser extent Roll for the Galaxy) was the lack of expansions to the base card set. Really enjoyed it as an alternative to Ascension but it needed more variety. Hence the “infamous” Shards comment at the time being more than a little disappointing. Race for the Galaxy I loved. Being a rare breed of both Star Trek and Star Wars nerd - with all the expansions - is cosmic. It just looks a little dated now. I’ve also changed my thoughts on Dominion in the last couple of days from rather good to very good (been playing it incessantly since NY - only interrupted by real life aka “work”).
