I double hate season 2 and think it could be the worst desecration of an existing IP ever. Also, separate from fidelity to the source, the writers are objectively bad and there is no internal logic or consistency in the world building…
You are correct in that they are doing a horrible job of world building. I don’t need it, because I know the world. But I am watching it with my wife who is going in cold, and she misses half of what is going on, because they don’t explain it.
That said - She is mostly ok with it, her primary complaint about the show is that it is “too slow” which means she is getting an authentic WoT experience!
And… I’m out. Hijack is drivel for the moronic masses.
One cop to another, as they plan to kidnap a hijacker’s mother: “Don’t be so naive. If they’re taking hostages, then so are we.”
G.T.F.O.
eta: can’t finish this. Too many tropes, bad guys are really good guys forced into a bad situation by the “real” bad guys, poor weapon handling, unrealistic flying, etc. This is pure mind candy but without the benefit of being tasty.
Glad your comments reflect my initial impression of the series.
Just last week, after finishing Silo, I looked for something else to watch. Only after about 15 minutes of the first episode, I couldn’t go on. Reason: I disliked (reads loathed) the main character so much. Was he supposed to be cool, or a jerk, or, I don’t know…just
This was only last week, and I did spend some time since contemplating if I should give it another chance. If I had seen it during a bad mood or something… Now, I’m sure I won’t…. like ever.
I started Invasion instead. Just finished episode 3… good so far, but hope it gets better
Anyone watch the live version of One Piece on Netflix? I am two episodes in and really enjoying it. Can’t wait for my Chicago to Singapore flight this weekend to really smash the Netflix….
It really is that bad. I tried it last week and didn’t finish the first episode. And I will watch garbage like A Private Affair (on amazon) just because I like Jean Reno (who plays a sidekick role as a kindly gay butler) (yes, the Jean Reno from The Professional).
Started The Peripheral, on Amazon Prime. Based on the book by William Gibson which I’m ashamed to admit I own but haven’t read. Will have to rectify that as soon as I get a minute to stop reading Managing Public Organizations by Rainey et al and Public Administration: An Introduction, by those great literary minds Marc Holzer and Richard Schwester.
The Peripheral is very good so far, two episodes in. Will update.
I am halfway through The English and it is not really what I was expecting. Everything is excellent; cinemetography is great, and the music cues are perfect. There is a comic-book style to it that I didn’t see coming, though, with over-the-top characters-of-the-week, if that makes sense. I quite like it.
