I think @Mirefox was concerned about a curve on a different axis, more like a curved monitor than like a muffin top.
This made me lol entirely too hard
Perfect analogy, lol.
I found a great new little card game for 1-4 players, Regicide. https://www.regicidegame.com/
You can play with a standard deck of cards or buy the cool looking cards from them. Better to buy it from them than Amazon as there was some sort of ethical issue with the distributor of the first edition. I bought a deck to support them developing a cool game that can be played with a deck of cards.
A free app helps you keep track of what is going on and there is an IAP for the solo game.
A legacy version will be coming out early 2024.
It took some time for my first solo win and now I’m around 40%. Played it with 2 others and lost 2 and won 1 game.
It’s also got a great implementation on BGA.
Thanks, I bought it a while ago when I heard people saying good stuff about it, and while I haven’t managed to play it yet, I never knew there was an app. It might help me get into playing it physically. Thanks
Yes, women and their voting, when will they learn.
We call that “The Good Ole Days.”
I played Votes for Women with my wife and purposefully throw the game for nostalgia.
Picked up Pagan: Fate of Roanake and its Beyond the Palisades expansion.
To my sheer, if not intense, delight, the expansion box is just as big as the base game box despite being 100 cards and some tokens, and neither box is big enough to hold the game and expansion with the included insets, so the inserts for both boxes, which are different, are both useless.
It’s at times like these I want a hobby that does not seem dedicated to producing extra waste.
Since my wife and daughter do not like Dice Throne - and I think it is great, I finally picked up the Dice Throne Adventure box so I can play solo.
This is just as I was finishing up Scenario 2 with a win!
It’s a lot of fun so far. The scenarios alternate between a tile based dungeon/portal crawl (only about 10 tiles per portal) and then boss battles. After each scenario, you get treasure cards to optionally add to your decks and they even have rarities like common, rare, epic and legendary (as do monsters).
I have all of the Dice Throne characters (except the two x-mas ones) so decided to run with Treant, Moon Elf and Huntress to start with, mostly because there was a lot of damage mitigation possible with those for the first run. I thought about using some of the Marvel Characters (I have not even tried them at all yet) and I heard Scarlett Witch is really good for DTA, but probably for the next run.
Essentially, you have 20 rounds to complete the campaign which consists of 8 Scenarios.
Does anyone have any opinions on Horizons of Spirit Island? Especially as an entry point to the game? It’s on clearance at my local Target for $15.
Twilight Struggle. My opponent came out swinging with Red Scare/Purge and made the early war difficult for me, including a big Ops spend for Italy, and I basically gave up in the Middle East to secure what turned out to be an Asia scoring and then another Asia scoring immediately after a reshuffle to put me 14 VP up. Even a Late War horrorshow turn with Yuri & Samantha and Iran-Contra turning up after I had played Nuclear Subs couldn’t derail me totally; getting Aldrich Ames’d twice fucked me off though. Overall a great game, especially because we didn’t use that many events, so the likes of Marshall Plan, Fidel, and De Gaulle were hanging around in the Late War, spectres at the feast, which is not the usual state of affairs.
One of those fries (crisps, chips, pomme de frites, whatever) on my board would shoot me right up to DEFCON 1.
Edit: On closer inspection, I don’t know what those are, but the sentiment stands.
At least you went with reasonable snacks … I looked at that picture and spent a solid minute trying to figure out who buys a packet of pasta with sauce on it.
How dare you attack one of the pillars of the pub snack pantheon.
They sound delicious, but they LOOK like Chef Boyardee expanded into the gourmet-foods-in-bags space.
They are delicious and I very much doubt they were designed with the human digestive system in mind.
Fritos makes some chili corn chip snacks so I imagine they taste similar and are indeed good. We have an alcohol thread. We need a snacking thread
Strike! A very fun dice game, extremely silly, compulsive.
Europe Divided. Played the West, won by a point. Extremely close game, only tipped by a final sweep of NATO taking out Russian strongpoints. Had real trouble interfering in Russian plans for most of the game, they turned Belarus into a fortress.
Playing as Russia, I lost by a couple of points. The Russians need to play a much more aggressive game and interfere in the West’s goals in order to win. Some great card play though, dropping free armies on borders and generally causing havoc.
Playing as the USSR, I suffered some setbacks (got NORAD Trumanned out of France), but otherwise had a fairly easy game, winning in the Mid War with a hefty Asia/ME/SE Asia scoring card and OPEC combo. Fell behind on the space race but it didn’t hamper me much.
