Terraforming Mars players wanted

FYI, the game keeps logging me out and then logs into a back up account, so I’m not receiving any notifications.

I wind up having to do a hard reset to log in.

So, if I’m behind, please feel free to let me know it’s my turn.

I’m getting just the splash screen on loading too, won’t advance any further. Probably similar to what @kennfusion is seeing. Force closing and iPad restart haven’t helped.

Well, that’s new. Afterwards I got the black screen on restarting, but force-closing twice worked for me.

They changed my color in the game. I was purple, now I’m blue.

Same on the color change mid-game, went from yellow to blue. I can login to my existing games on Steam, seems just iOS is borked.

Guys, sorry but you’ll need some patience for me.

Asmodee logs me out every turn and may or may not accept my logins. Yeah, I know, it’s crazy.

As well, this time around, it wouldn’t allow me to end my turn. It seems every single time the only way I can make any progress is a hard reset,

I try to get to the game 2-3 times a day. I’ll be there eventually,

Ooooh, an update, I wonder what this one does.

Ooo ooo waves hand I know I know, pick me!

What is breaks the game for $1000, Alex?

I am done with this game - I am just not going to reboot my entire ipad every time it is my turn.

I have similar problems but it’s even worse.

Game shows @SpiceTheCat turn for days now. Took screenshots and time remaining (24d 13h 49m) was the exact same 23 hours later!

I haven’t been able to log in to TFM for a week, but as I’ve been travelling and on hotel Wi-Fi I wasn’t sure quite where the problem is. Home today so I’ll try again…

Update: it worked. @Caradog up next, hopefully we can push this one over the line.

so have they managed to completely ruin the game now?
with the 25th patch at last
why did it take so long, given their pool of programming talent extraordinaire??

Lol, I know it isn’t the current issue, but I just had a scene pop into my head where five people spend 2 hours playing Terraforming Mars at the table then some guy takes his turn, flips the table, then asks if anyone knew the scores…

I cannot remember in which context we started this game, but @Zebracadabra is the winner! Congrats!

Gg, all! Unfortunately, constantly having to log in every turn after doing a hard reset was awful and detracted from the fun. I’m not going to play again for quite awhile. This program has had problems forever.

The loading time when you’re up to like generation 9 is ridiculous. I used to write game code professionally and whatever they were doing, they certainly were not doing it optimally. I’m sure I could write that part in Basic and have it load quicker. Oh well, at least now i can see the progress of the load while I take a nap.

I was thinking about this while a podcast with actual MB of data downloaded faster while I waited for the game to reopen. How much data do you actually need to define the game state? Probably a trivial amount, relatively speaking, so why does it need so long?

To be fair, Root started off painfully slow but got better. Maybe @Strangiato has some insight?

It is my unproven belief that the app downloads a record of all turns to date and then applies them - as opposed to downloading a saved game state. Thus - the later in the game it is, the more turns there are to be applied, and the longer it takes get to the current game state.

This may or may not be related to the orginal design being created with online play in mind (and not async play). That design slant being responsible for the crazy (foi async players) “you have to be online as the game ends to see the result”.

Meanwhile, I seem to be lucky in that I do not need to do any sort of reset before taking my turn. The app just works and I only need to login after an update (well, I had to login twice after the last update). .
