No!!! (sorry, will make sure we do if this continues…)
Gg! Fun game.
GG!
That was the first time I played and so have no idea what the optimal loops might be. I did not understand any paths to get rings, and I suspect that could have streamlined it a bit. I have to say, I don’t really like the game.
One of the things I like about the game is that with random tile placement, your optimal loops change any given game. There’s a bit of puzzling out what your optimal path might be, and it changes from game to game. But if you’re not really a fan then having to rethink it every time you play isn’t going to suddenly make you enjoy it.
@zen4one takes the top spot on the ladder!
GG and very close until the end - I needed two more (lucky) turns to get my last mosque tile and a fifth ruby and I think @Hardco was possibly even closer than that.
I haven’t forgotten about a poll for a new game for next season, by the way, just a bit busy at work right now…
Here are some of the new games I’m aware of, please let me know if there’s something else new I’m forgetting about:
Isle of Cats
Quilts and Cats of Calico
Cascadia
Caverna
(Not sure what’s up with the “C” named games… )
I have a feeling Ark Nova will be a slamdunk but it’s not out yet and will take some time to learn, so I’ll give it a couple more days and then post a poll for new game and fire up the randomizer to round out the Season 5 (!!!) games list.
It won’t be voted for but Evergreen is new-ish. It’s a great, puzzly one.
I’d play Evergreen!
What’s the timer on this game? I think I missed last night, but I know I took my turn Sunday…
That’s ridiculous.
I’m happy to concede (notifications have never worked for this game for me) but not sure what to do for the other two players
@whovian223 - there are no notifications for Istanbul. That’s why I suggested every table start a private SP mail thread. Apologies if that wasn’t clear above… Since we are at the end of a season, there’s certainly time for you to start again if @JaneHatke and @Zebracadabra are willing and you can help nudge each other to take at least a daily turn.
Ok, room created. I’ll start a private thread
As promised, a poll!
- Cascadia
- Caverna
- Evergreen
- Isle of Cats
- Quilts and Cats of Calico

I did not know any of these, but ChatGPT gave me a rundown on each and summarized it like:
If you’re optimizing for shorter, engaging matches with strategic depth , I’d rank them:
- Cascadia – Accessible, thoughtful, plays quickly, great async ladder option.
- Quilts and Cats of Calico – Tight puzzles, gorgeous, minimal downtime.
- Evergreen – A little less known, but balanced and short.
- Isle of Cats – Great game, but longer per session and slightly fiddlier in digital.
- Caverna – Excellent heavy Euro, but probably overkill for most ladders.
I take back my vote for Evergreen, thought I was voting for EverTREE, didnt even realize EverGREEN existed! Never heard of it before! Must’ve come out when I was exploring Pluto for NASA not long ago and I totally lost track of time. Right. Yup, that was it……
Cascadia plus anything with „cat” in the title
I was interested in Caverna until the words “like Agricola” appeared.
