It appears to have asynch. I’m having trouble logging in, though. I have an Acram account for all their other games but I keep getting an error here.

I was able to login but get an error on iOS when I try to enable push notifications.

I wonder if you successfully logged in because you already had an account with the Steam version?

I created a new accounting using all the same credentials as my other Acram games. In hindsight, I don’t remember is Acram logins are universal or per-game but now I’m thinking the latter.

Games are 1v1 or 2v2.

I wish there were a FFA option so I could play 1v1v1.

You can add AI in online games.

Not sure it’s been mentioned yet but munchkin now has a pre order page up on ios and is releasing March 9

I’ve not been an oh fan of the card game but a) DireWolf has earned my loyalty; b) the graphics certainly liven up rather drab looking card game, and c) the digital medium changes things enough that I’ve enjoyed other games digitally that I haven’t at the table, and visa versa.

Humble has a pretty solid bunch of games bundled up to benefit earthquake relief in Turkey. Includes Pathfinder: Kingmaker and Gotham Knights, as well as a bunch most of us probably already have but also a bunch I’d never looked at before. Anyone see any gems in here, I’d love to know about them:

Friendly reminder; the 3DS and Wii U eShop will permanently close down on March 27 2023.

Redownloading Stuff and Updating stuff will still be possible after that (for now).
Buying stuff and downloading free Demos, however, will not.
You cannot use CCs, Paypal or Giftcards to up your wallet in both stores (already disabled) however linking your NNID (old DS/3DS/Wii/Wii U accounts) to your Nintendo Account (used on Switch) makes it possible to use your Nintendo (switch) wallet to purchase games on the Wii U / 3DS eShop (and you get 5% of your purchase prices in gold coins for future switch eShop purchases).

Also be mindful of ingame DLCs which need to be purchased seperately (Fire Emblem and Ace Attorney games for example) this option will also go away on 23 March 2023.

Linking the 2 Accounts is done on a PC (not on Switch). You can make a NintendoAccount now and use funds on it for 3DS/Wii U if you plan on getting a Switch later and have these funds/gold coins used on a Switch linked to that account at a later date.

Edit:
Also I hate it that pretty much every Japanese publisher has a final firesale with massive discounts over there but US and EU storefronts are too busy sniffing their own butts.

Ah, the joys of digital distribution.

Just yesterday I was reminded of the existence of Card City Nights on iOS. Thinking I’d fire it up again, I looked for it on the App Store. It wasn’t there. I looked for it in my purchases. It wasn’t there. So that’s a premium game that I purchased simply stealth removed from my possession.

I know we’re all adults here and understand that we play games at the whim of the industry and that most of what we buy these days is little more than a rental, but that doesn’t mean I have to like it.

I still have an original NES and I still have cartridges that play well. Where possible, I still buy physical.

I gave up that fight long ago. At least since “physical” means “gold version 1.0”…which may or may not run at all now, not even talking about the near/far future…

The only two I can think of that I really lament are The Battle for Hill 218 and the Arkham Horror second edition companion app. I’d like to have had a chance to try that edition with my kids, but I always hated shuffling the massive mythos deck, so, without the app, it’s preferable just to play third edition.

But I saved my GameCube, for which I had a rare old disc with versions of Ocarina of Time and Master Quest. And it’s fucking awful. I loved those games when I played them, but now, I’ve come to expect a control stick to be something other than an 8-way d-pad, and simple movement drove me bananas. That was the experience which killed my need for archiving; even if I can keep around exactly the version of a game I had years ago, I will have changed enough that I couldn’t recapture the experience I had then, anyway.

Which is deep, man.

I feel this way about TV shows that I used to love, but when I go back to them now, they are essentially unwatchable (Babylon 5, I’m looking at you). I’ve changed, but also the nature of TV has changed and I’ve come to expect a certain level of quality. Much like the nature of gaming has changed. Fetch quests and grinding are still out there, but there’s no reason to put up with it if you don’t want to because we have so many more options now.

I buy digital mostly to avoid clutter and so my wife doesn’t know how many games I have.

It’d be a different story if we were back in the days of Microprose and flight sim manuals the size of the actual manual

I agree about Babylon 5, I wish I could go back and watch it and experience it the way I did when I first watched it. It just does not work any more.

Interestingly enough, they still sell the Android version. Apple’s often forced obsolescence of older apps is pretty annoying.

100% this.

Though I did dig out my old Pokémon and game boy ds / sp etc. which the kids loved (I must admit I think they link screens first, content second).

For the rest…

Am I the only one on steam who keeps, like, 5 games downloaded and showing in their games list? The rest are removed from system and filtered out from option.

I just can’t deal with too many options. At the moment I have;
Against the Storm / Last spell / Wildermyth / war hammer 40m some arpg/ aria chronicle

Everything else? Gone.

I handle Steam the same way you do. I don’t need constant reminders of past Steam sale impulse buys, or all the games I got in Humble Bundles I bought based on a single title in the bundle.

Same for me. I have terrible decision-paralysis about what to watch at night when I just want to watch a show or movie. It’s often the same with games.

I keep it all installed unless I rage quit/uninstall it.

Munchkin is out on iOS. It looks to have the high level of polish Dire Wolf has been brining to all their games. At $10, it’s not an instant buy for me but it’s on my wishlist and is something I’m likely to pick up sooner than later. If anyone jumps in, leave some impressions.
