It isn’t a bad app, but it is very barebones. It is a neat way to learn a simple little drafting game, but you’ll be doing nothing but playing g the AI in little 60 second games nonstop.
Caught me. I’ve been vaguely curious about it for years, but it just sounded so bland I never really cared to look into it. But, for a buck, I figured it was worth it just for the tutorial.
It’s a pretty simple app, with an old-school Codito feel—it works, but a layer of UI polish could make it more pleasant. But the game seems okay. If someone recommended it at a game night, I’d happily give it a go.
I did a review of it when it came out.
And since this is the journalism thread, how about the news that Asmodee is releasing Blood Rage on Steam on May 27?
Will the async suck as much as so many other Asmodee titles?
We’ll see.
There is a great house rule that we use that is unfortunately not in the app where we have a hand of three terrain tiles. The way the game works, as implemented in the app, leaves me with a sense that I have to do what the game is telling me to do rather than make my own decisions. It isn’t a terrible game, though, and the app is serviceable, if dated.
Wonder what multiplayer options there might be
Nah thanks…2 years in and I still am way into Horus Heresy:Legions
CCG and Warhammer40k…what do you need more?
That’s one thing they haven’t released yet, or at least not that I’ve seen.
Due to the nature of combat, I could very easily seeing them drop asynchronous entirely because it seems that any developer who isn’t CGE can’t be bothered to figure out a creative solution for simultaneous actions in asynchronous multiplayer.
I’ve probably played hundreds of games of Kingdom Builder. It’s a great time killer when you want something light and not too taxing
Is the online functional?
It sounds like Civ 6 is getting a new expansion in the form of a pass that will dole out new content over time. I found the story over at ign.com
Ed Beach blurred out his board game collection, but I doubt that’ll stop us figuring out what he’s got
https://i.imgur.com/65h5Cz0.jpg https://i.imgur.com/Gow1aNc.jpgGonna go out on a limb and say that it’s Civilization: A New Dawn that he’s trying to hide with his coffee mug?
Neoverse is on sale on Steam, and this is a fantastic take on the Slay the Spire genre of deck building, rogue-lite genre of game.
I never played that one, but I played the Civ board-game they released before that. It was ok but a bit of a monster. So many rules and counters… took us ages just to get through one game and it abstracted the different victory routes a bit too much. You really had to stick to your thing or were essentially wasting your time.
Small World 2 iPhone beta …
I’m sure none of the multiplayer issues are fixed, but now we can suffer through them on smaller screens … yay?
I don’t know if you were involved or not, but did you see the fiasco over in the Small World thread when they tried to get games going? It sounded like they ultimately got some up and running but the hoops they had to jump through seemed significant.
I wasn’t involved, but I read the thread. Yet another good game ruined by Asmodee’s “multiplayer.”
Here’s hoping they fix some of those issues before bringing it to phones?
EDIT: Holy crap is everything WAY too tiny on the phone. Looks like a straight port at the moment–they might have adjusted the aspect ratio so the game fits the screen, but that’s about it.
