I’ll admit that I didn’t get the first Reigns. I know it was everyone else’s 2016 GOTY, but I just couldn’t get into it at all. Swiping left, right and ending up…somewhere? I just couldn’t figure out what all the hubbub was about. Apparently, if you stuck with it, all sorts of special story-driven stuff happened, but I didn’t have the patience [or common sense -ed.] to keep playing. That said, it remains on my phone. One of these days I’ll really dig into it and realize I had an awesome game right under my nose all this time and it will be great. Or, I might delete it and just download the sequel, Reigns: Her Majesty, which is coming to all platforms on December 7.

From all appearances, it seems like Reigns: Her Majesty is pretty much just Reigns but with a Queen instead of King. It’s still the swiping left and right and choosing how you want to handle each crazy event that pops up.

It does have a few new mechanisms hiding under its Tinder-like gameplay, however. This version adds an inventory system, new stacks of cards, and even the reemergence of some of the kings you may have a passing familiarity with from the first Reigns. Damn, I might have to play through the first one, anyway.

In Reigns: Her Majesty, a cultural renaissance has bestowed the world with a new era of knowledge and enlightenment, but greed and jealousy still conspire against the benevolent queen. Outwit and outlast those that would seek to depose you and your husband by swiping left or right, making just (or unjust) decisions on all manner of royal matters. Maintain the balance between the kingdom’s most powerful factions, use mystical items from your inventory, and navigate the increasingly complex politics and personal relationships of your dynasty.
Reigns: Her Majesty is coming to iOS, Android, and Steam on December 7th. No idea what the price point is going to be, but you're going to buy it regardless, right?

Loved the first one, but never finished it because of other distractions… might have to pick it up again. TA is reporting this one will go for $2.99.

What do they know?
