The comparison is interesting. I like Elder Sign. It may be that the randomness is more transparent and that it is a shorter game. If I lose, I only spent a short amount of time and can start a new game where I have a chance to win. A longer game or one that I don’t know how long it is seems like more of an investment and I’ll be more disappointed by losing. Not that winning and losing is everything. The highs and lows of the journey are important also. This is something I’m not seeing in Out There. I don’t have enough perspective to know if I’ve survived something tricky, so I’m missing out on the fun of the journey.
