I’ve spent the last ten days doing not much more than yelling at children and trying to drink away this never-ending headache. No luck thus far, but tomorrow the sun shines again and the house belongs to me and me alone (and the dog, but he’s way less annoying than the kids). As such, I can start looking at the App Store again to see what I’ve missed. In theory, there shouldn’t be much as the App Store has been shut down over the holidays. You can imagine my surprise this morning when I awoke to find that an expansion to one of my favorite games was released early last week. Pretty sneaky, sis.
The surprise release is from Klei, the developers of such fantastic iPad fare as Don’t Starve and Invisible, Inc. Their latest is the stand-alone expansion to the former, Don’t Starve: Shipwrecked. Available via a $5 DLC on the PC/Mac version, on iOS Shipwrecked stands alone as its own beast.
The expansion continues the adventures of Wilson (who’s not a volleyball despite the shipwrecked theme), as he finds himself abandoned in an archipelago with all new dangers and recipes to deal with.
Don’t let the tropical breeze lull you into a false sense of security - the world might be different, but it is still equal parts unforgiving and uncompromising. You will quickly find these islands are full to the brim with things that want to kill you.Key Features:
Navigate the Open Ocean: Craft a boat and set sail for adventure!
Explore an Entirely New World: The entire world is different. Explore new biomes filled with new resources. Scavenge for new sources of food. Run for your life from a host of new creatures.
Brave New Seasons: A set of tropically inspired seasons will try their hardest to kill you.
Craft New Recipes: Build an array of new gadgets to help yourself survive these harsh islands.
Don’t Starve: Shipwrecked is available for iOS Universal, but not for Android. Yet. The original Don’t Starve made it to both platforms, so it might just be a matter of time until we see Shipwrecked on Android as well. https://youtu.be/mScnLxvFEWg
